Was/is it just my internet????

Telkom ADSL line and Telkom ISP. Since about 4PM yesterday, my internet for browsing, gaming and streaming was pretty much useless. If I do a Speedtest, I get 3.5down and 0.4up, which is pretty spectacular on my 4mb line. But try and open something a simple as this forum and it will not even load. Even Google would not open most of the times. Gaming totally out and Netflix too.

When I went to bed last night at 10PM, it was still the same. Got to the office this morning and the internet here is also wonky. Have not spoken to the IT guys as to what the cause is.

Anyone else experienced internet issues on other ISPs?
 
I can relate. Two days ago my streaming was perfect HD on youtube on 4meg. Yesterday 4pm ish I only get SD and thats after my account was upgraded to 10meg. Today still the same no change.
 
Your line might be having an issue with the high sync causing a lower noise margin causing the line to flap.

Depending on your router, check for an app called RouterStats as then you can log the noise margin and check if your line is dropping out and reconnecting.

Mine syncs perfectly fine. My exchange even support 40meg dsl but was little to expensive for me to go that route.

RouterStats is still worth a go. It's how I picked up I had noise on the line even though I was syncing fine.
 
I will give it a go. But I must add, I had the 10meg line installed last year November. Only had 4meg do Uncapped package up until yesterday. Only upgrade the data package to 10meg uncapped and then started experiencing slow streaming speeds.

I see. I suggest getting yourself a free 1GB Afrihost or WebAfrica account and test with that. Then you can narrow it down to line or account.

You'll probably find that as you upgraded to 10meg package, you have been added to a different pool of users (10 meg) and there congestion in the pool, or there's a config issue for the pool.

I have, got a uudial account from MTN and it runs smoothly. I just logged it with them on the support portal as 10210 is useless. Took me an hour and 25 mins just to get them to up the account. Cant go through that experience again lol
 
Hi,

Seems Telkom Internet is having issues with their shaper (I say this because pings are good, just web services, email etc that are down the tubes). My Telkom Internet is dead in the water: 2-6kbytes/sec to most sites. Switched to my Afrihost account and my 10Mbit line is flying at 980kbytes/sec again.
