Hi Boys and Girls,

After endless amounts of phone calls, begging and pleading I have not come very far concerning this premium number \ WASP business. Basically we have been working on a major business idea, everything is in place and we have been in touch with a company called Foneworx. They are the service provider \ middle man for a premium number which gets billed per minute by all network providers and then of course me as the business owner then gets a cut of the revenue generated.

Overnight it seems that Vodacom has decided they are withdrawing from this completely along with MTN and Cell C, ultimately putting many other similar companies out of business. The inter connection fees are apparently too high and they are now running at a loss. It was drastic, caught everyone by surprise and put lots of businesses in jeopardy, including mine as mentioned before.

My next logical step was then to deal with the network providers individually ie, get a premium number from each network only for their customers. Vodacom owns the biggest share of the market, they were of utmost importance in the business model and after 2 days of calling and emailing and speaking to incompetent vodacom "execs", I was referred to WASPA.org.za. According to the Vodacom guy they don't offer these premium revenue sharing numbers anymore but It's still possible to get it from other providers? So I confirmed that I can infact get a Vodacom premium number, just not from Vodacom? Derp? Vodacom does not offer it anymore but other 3rd party companies can give me a vodacom number and revenue sharing?

Without going into too much detail, I'm hoping to find someone on here that can shed some light on this.

A. Is it possible to get this type of number whether a number per network or one number for every network with revenue sharing?
B. If so, where and what can I contact to get this in place.

I hope this was posted in the right section and that I may find some clarity on this matter.

I've been working in the WASP industry for 7 years and could have told you that the networks change their business models all the time. Never put your eggs into one basket when it comes to these guys, never.

Sadly I don't know of any WASPS that offer these premium numbers your looking for besides using a Telkom 0861 number

They have not changed their business model in 8 years. It was an overnight decision to withdraw this service. So in other words, if someone dials the telkom number from any non telkom provider I don't profit? The implications on this is massive and just does not make sense at all. Should it not be fair to provide a number per network then since it's the "inter connection" fees that's causing them to make a so called loss every month? I'm dumbstruck by this.
