WASP spam and Tapatalk?

Hi. The last few weeks I started getting sms's at random times saying something like "Your request for Games was rejected due to the Content Block that is set on +27*********, To unblock, please dial *135*997#". A bit annoying since I blocked content services on my sim so I don't understand why I am getting these sms's.

Lately however, I am getting a popup message on my phone saying that content service are blocked and to enter 1 to unblock. If I reject or cancel I typically get the sms above. If I cancel the popup there is usually another one just after that. I also noticed it usually happens when I have Tapatalk open. Not sure if it is one of the ads on Tapatalk that is doing this?

Has anybody experienced the same issue on Vodacom? Any way to stop the sms's and popups from appearing?

I also loaded the ESET antivirus app and it didn't pick up anything strange.
 
I've been getting the same popup, also with Tapatalk and Vodacom. I normally just cancel the popup but don't get another one immediately. I suspect it's one of the ads.
 
I emailed the Tapatalk support staff, they were very quick to respond and very helpful. Here is their response.

 I promise you we hate those pop-ads! The people who place the ads are very sophiscated, and never appear to be pop-ads, and look like good ads from top brand advertsisers. The code converts to a malicious ad under the "right" circumstance, such as country,operating system, etc.


To combat these ads, we do have a very sophicscated monitoring system that detects when legit ads convert to bad ads from this malicious code. Unfortuately, we have to see a few ads convert to malicious ads to detemine they are in fact bad, and then the are permanately blocked. So a few ads do get through before we can find and clock them.

So now when I get a popup I mail them a screenshot of it and then they can block it. Please report it when you get one at [email protected]
 
Easier just to stop using Tapatalk, when they started, it was nice - now I couldn't be bothered.

They keep e-mailing me to come back, sooner or later will spam list them.
