Hello all

With the current water issues in GP, can anyone recommend an installer for a residential water backup? Jojo and municipal supply?

Borehole is financially off limits for me

I used Geezers plumbing of Fairland.

They have done plenty...

I’m currently getting a jojo installed. Just backing up municipal water atm and then will look at harvesting and purification options when I have more funds available.

Long term, If my neighbours agree, the plan is to pool together to get a borehole and join up to our tanks that way. Would require separate plumbing as I will only use that water for toilets, pool and garden.

Is this simply fitting a tank on the mainline before it goes to the rest of the house? No pumps or anything? Just an inline tank?

Also curious - I know when my water is cut, nothing comes out of the geyser. The water is trapped by (I think) a vacuum. Wouldn’t that be the same ?

My guess would be No. Jojos are normally low pressure compared to your main supply.

Without a plumbed in system with a on demand pump all you have is a very big water container.

Pointless.

Nope. There’s a 1.1kw pump as well which kicks in when the municipal pressure drops. Everything in the house runs as if there’s municipal water including the geyser.

I have a bypass lever to run off municipal or Jojo only so that I can cycle the tank water or service the jojo without interrupting the water supply to the house.

I have used these guys, very happy with their installation. This was done about 5 years ago, they still assist me when needed.
