I will be changing my coolant soon. Was just wondering if those of you that have water cooling systems have a special "mixture" that you use. What works for you??

Been looking on various overseas forums - a lot of the stuff you don't get locally, like PT Nuke etc.

Share your coolant recipes please ;)

Water (plus some silver to kill bacteria)... the end. No need for special coolant unless you want it to be a certain colour (in which case I'd just get coloured tubing but anyway). The temps are virtually the same no matter what coolant you use

Distilled water - any dischem has it, and an anti-corrosion agent. I normally get the bottle of blue stuff from thermaltake but any glycol based agent will do. Just dont make the mistake i did. If you use this stuff you HAVE TO replace your water annually. The glycol turn into a yelly after a while and its a mess to get out of your pipes then....

I got some Zalman coolant this time round (ZM-G200 Anti-Corrosion Coolant). Have the original Coolermaster coolant in the system still.....

No one got any "tried and tested" special recipes??

@ Archer How much silver did you add to your system?? Silver to water ratio?? or doesn't it matter?? I am not too worried about the color of the coolant - as long as it does its job

Can't you just get new pipes when you get a new system?

I'm using distilled water and a silver coil.. So far all is good :) but only been running for less than a month now..

Just a small silver coil, leave it in your reservoir. They are like $20. Not sure of any shops in SA that sell em though for this purpose. Why it works - silver is an anti bacterial/fungi/algae agent.

3.25mm (w) x 0.5mm (thickness) x 75mm (length)
Take those dimensions and ask a jeweller to make it for you in a spiral. The spiral not only gives you a large surface area, but also helps to stop it escaping the reservoir.
