Hi, i have a water hose and it is touching an engine part which gets very very hot, its just plain bare metal but the contour of the metal is actually making a concave type of mold in the pipe which i am worried about.
...For now i have used Thickly Folded tin foil and put it between the pipe and the engine part.
what can i use to re-inforce the pipe or place between the two ?

loosen the clamps and try move the pipe to give you better clearance.
if all else fail wrap it with heat wrap or lava wrap. contact turbo direct.

yeh I knew the tin foil conducted heat so i was not worried about catching fire.
My friend was telling me to use a toilet roll and all sorts of nonsense.
I found a rubber like you said and ihave been using it but it very soft though.
Is there any other material i can use ?

Can i cut a piece of a floor mat from the car and use that ?

Hheat wrap OR lava wrap , i have no idea, i have never heard of those items.
Please can you tell me more ?

I cany loosen and play with the pipe because it doesnt have enough play... it is actually not the correct pipe for the bend .... it was an improvise by my older mechanic.

Go and buy the correct pipe and get it fitted.
If you don't do this properly your car will strand you at the side of the road when that pipe wears through.

Heat wrap will be a temporary fix. The friction will wear through the wrap and then the pipe.
If you doubt this, I can offer evidence of a metal brake line that was touching the alternator of my ML, it wore through. It was a very long drive home with no brakes.

for my car it is the pipe by the air in take pipe (near the ICV), really hard to get to and wrap something around....
but i will have to try hard

the heat wrap , is it adhesive or do u just wrap it ?

wrap sets with heat but wire to keep it in place. If a air hose why not just use silicon pipe.

hmm, its a water pipe, it is the pipe which is just below the air in take pipe..... on a corsa B model... hope this makes sense.

The one that connects to the thermostat? but then you talked about the icv , or are you referring to the one at the rear of the engine? I have a corsa B but I am struggling to visualise the pipe, maybe a picture will help.

with my car at the mechanic its hard to show u.
umm, u know the pipe in the front by the radiator inlet, not that one....it has a very 45 degree bend....not that one.

anyways at the back by the brake fluid....ICV Air Intake pipe.... there is a black hose pipe also thick .... it is on the left there of the fuel rail area....it actually runs right past and TOP f the alternator....that one..

I just checked on my car and I see exactly what you are talking about, it's a very tight squeeze, the way I see mine is squeezed between the alternator body and the air intake manifold, it is in contact with the alternator and I can tell that it will have slight dimple on the point of contact, mine is original yet with very tight clearances between the surfaces, I can imagine you are bound to have issues if you fit a different pipe in there.

Hi, yes Sir so i was looking for something to just protect that hose.... so i tried to use my daughters play ABC letter mat thing but that was starting to smell of burn so not a good idea.
I then found a rubber but it is very very soft... i just folded it double and i am using that for now with tin foil... because the tin foil although it conducts heat ...surely it can also offer some protection.

I was thinking maybe to cut my car floor mat , like apiece of it until i get this wrap stuff i was told about.... but again to be able to wrap that around that pipe is very very difficult.....it is very very hard to get your fingers around ....i have tiny hands and for me it is hard enough.... i can only imagine tow truck drivers hands, how the hell man.

replace the damned hose before you're stranded.

NO!

That rubber will melt and burn and you will have a burning Corsa on the side of the road.

Don't be stupid and don't be cheap, just buy the CORRECT hose for your car (they are not expensive and Opel made 655283652718934628232394 Corsas so you will easily find one at a spares shop, scrapyard etc.)

Just fit the right part and you wont have issues. These "solutions" you are trying are going to either break your car or kill you.
