Hi,

I have the following water test results:

E-Coli 0
Coliform Bacteria 9
PH 6.57
Colour 203 (highest allowed is 20)
Turbidity 7.54 (highest is 1)

Water is filtered and chlorinated, but these are test results at the tap.

Is it still safe to drink?

thanks.

PS I do know that neither turbidity or colour are an indication the water is unsafe, that it depends on what is causing it. The iron content is high and the problem is that there was a fire in the catchment area and then very heavy rain washing debris, ash and other contaminants into the water.

I want to add that I have been informed that these results do not conform to SANS standards for drinking water. Does anyone have any information on how to proceed with the municipality. This is in connection with an ongoing water crisis in a small town. Thanks.

Who collected the water and in what container was the water sample collected for analysis? Also, what amount of time elapsed between collecting the sample and analysing it?

Municipality. No idea and no idea.
