So I spent last week mountain biking around the Machado, Waterval-boven, Badplaas, Dullies quadrangle
The water supply on the farm we stayed on was from a spring and all the water we drank on our routes was from springs/streams in the area.
Something I never noticed before is how k@k the tap water in Jozie really tastes and smells. Maybe it’s just my imagination but there definitely seems to be a chemical undertone in a glass of tap water, no matter where I’ve tried it

Something I’ve never before considered has all of a sudden become a serious consideration – paying for bottles of valpré.
Been thinking there may be an investment opportunity with the farm owner where we stayed

Anyone else avoiding tap water? How long you think before it literally starts tasting like k@k?

You might be better off buying a filter system rather than a million bottles of Valpre :)

Interesting ... we have a farm outside Machadodorp and I do not like the taste of the borehole water. I need that goold old taste of JHB chemicals in my water :D

I have noticed when I drink coffee on the farm, it tastes vastly different from when I drink it here at home.

After tasting spring water in the Drakensburg, I gave thought to how often I could get up there to replenish my stocks :D ....... tap water is ugh but using a filter can undo some of that ugh at least.

Think it'll change the taste?

That is interesting. All the water I had was free flowing so I couldn't vouch for the borehole stuff. Not sure why it would taste any different to spring water though. Maybe something to do with where the water is flowing

If you install a RO system. YES! YES! YES! Water will taste better than any bottled water at pennies per liter.

Looked at a couple of options. Around 2 jimmy's for a 200L under-counter unit which isn't too bad

However when one of the biggest suppliers has the following BS on their site...
Plastic bottles should have a number (between 1 and 7) printed on the bottom so that consumers are able to differentiate good plastic from bad plastic. The good numbers are 1, 2, 4, and 5 and the bad numbers are 3, 6 and 7.
:(

...I begin doubting that the purification system is of any real use. Anyways, I'll do a bit more research.

We got a Little Luxury water filter at home, and it helps to remove some of the nasty taste from the water.

Okay

I'm seriously confused

Water doesn't taste like anything.

I'd much rather drink Jozi/CPT tap water than Dubai's

My mom got this tupperware (I think it's ADDIS) jug that she keeps in the fridge. It takes these weird pills and has some built-in filtering and purifying system. The water taste improves dramatically when using that jug. It actually tastes like nothing again! (instead of feces and urine) She got that because all the other systems were either the same thing or waaaay too expensive.
