Watercooling kit - your opinion

I decided I want to get the XSPC Rasa RS240 watercooling kit for my new build. This will cool a 2700k in a Corsair 500R or 600T (White Editions).

I'm thinking of ordering it from either Performance PC or FrozenCPU. I will do the standard kit and ditch a few parts - this is what I will be using.

So what do you think? This works out a lot cheaper than trying to buy everything locally. The shipping option I chose is a little bit more expensive but the order is then insured.
FrozenCPU: $292.37 with shipping R2286 (USPS Express Mail international)
Performance PC: $306 with shipping R2387 (USPS Express Mail international)

My other concern is if the RS240 rad will fit the 500r or 600t, so far I haven't found any concrete measurements that it will fit without modding the case, which I dont want to do. In both cases the radiator will be inside with the fans pulling from underneath the mesh tops.

So PPC or FrozenCPU? Which have you used if you have used them and are you happy with them? I will most probably be paying a lot for duties, lets hope it is not to bad and still be worth it. Will post this on other forums as well to get some more feedback.
 
I've used both stores, both are decent.
The kit is also alright, not the best pump in the world, but for such a small loop it wont matter. Personally I would ditch the coolant though and just use distilled water with some silver (which you get free with the kit). For me thats the most hassle free way.
Will have a look around to see what clearances are like for your case later in the day

edit: I'll also check to see what you can get if you buy pieces seperately but if memory serves me well, I think the kits do work out a fair bit cheaper

I also think distilled water would be fine, we have a reverse osmosis system at home but I dont know how clean the water is to bottled distilled water I can buy locally. I did "build" my own custom loop and it does work out more expensive, this is why I went with this with a few mods here and there.

Ok, the 600T will definately work for you :) Here is a build log of one
Couldnt find much on the 500R (I do have a job you know :p) but with a thin rad (30mm or less) it should also fit in at the top judging by pictures I've seen

Couldnt find a better value solution in terms of the whole kit. Can get a better block, pump, with the same rad. But then you still need a res and fans. I'm not counting the fittings since you're getting those separate anyway.

I could've helped you out with shipping (I'm in the US now) but alas, luggage has been restricted to only one bag per passenger so I dont have much room/weight left in my bag :/
 
Thanks for the reply Archer. Yeah a full custom loop will be a bit much. I've read quite a bit about the kit and it performs very well. The 600T is quite nice, what is your feeling on it, kind of a different take on the norm.

You can maby bring me a SSD (Crucial M4 128gb) haha doesn't take up that much space, just scared for warranty, have a friend in the US now as well but he is only coming back in March
 
Functionally its very nice, built in fan controller, routing is easy, etc. And personally I like the way it looks as well, but that part is up to you. Bit over priced perhaps, but I cant remember how much plastic/metal it is, so that could be where the cost is coming from.

And I'm only back near the end of Feb as well :p PM me if you do want something and I'll see what I can do, no promises though
 
I have the Corsair 500R and it's an amazing case. Lots of space for anything you can imagine.
It will definitely work well with watercooling. It has watercooling grommets at the back, and space for a radiator or whatever you might want to put at the top.
 
Why do you need water cooling with a 2700K? That processor doesn't generate a lot of heat.

The 500R is my first choice so far but the top compartment is only 25mm compatible if I'm correct, so generally they mount the fans in the compartment and the rad inside thats if you going with a H100.

I want to water cool because I can and you still get better temps + it looks awesome, no one can say it doesn't - if its done properly, the 2700k is overclocking to 5ghz on air easy that's if your copy allows it. With water you getting better temps and a happier CPU.

I'll let you know Archer, thanks. If I do ask you to bring something it will most definitely be the Crucial M4 or Samsung 830 because of their reliability.
 
Yeah In the top compartment you have enough space for a fan + VAT. That compartment is removeable I think, the cover on the inside seems to have some play.
Below that, before you get to the RAM slots, you have about 5cm to play with.

Cooling because you can is always fun :p

Titan ice is pretty well known, and if they hadn't posted I was just gunna recommend them as I bought the XSPC RS240, XSPC RayStorm and XSPC compressions from them.

I've just half finished a build in a 600T a week ago, will post some pics quick.

EDIT:

I've got my phobya 200mm radiator sitting in the cupboard waiting for me to decide if I'm getting a full cover block for the 570 or a universal block or getting a new 7970 and cover block.. Oh the decisions... The tube that is feeding back to the res/pump will instead go to the GPU water block and off to the 2nd rad then back up to the res/pump.

As you can see it fits.. But that depends on your ram and mobo heat sinks.

The top mesh is pretty cool, you can basically place the rad how you want. I must still fiddle with it a bit to make it more secure. It's held by only 3 screws :whistle:

The orange circles show where it should be mounted. I had the rad there but the fans then had to be on the top of the case and not inside. But the problem with this is the air is basically sloshed between both meshes (The one that covers the fans on top and the bottom one they are mounted to. When the fans are full tilt it makes a big noise.

Sorry guys for not replying have been busy these few days.

Archer those are the Monsoon compression fittings and yes they are very sexy haha.

Wow NakedP that looks awesome, very well done. I might be getting a 800D and with that case I can go RS/RX/EX 360 rad at the top, my only issue is if the pump included in the kit can handle a CPU and GPU block. The XSPC Raystorm is a high flow block so its not that much of an issue there but a GPU block can get restrictive, radiators only cause 0.2 GPM (Gallons per minute) drop in flow rate.

According to the flow calculator 1.0 GPM is optimal. The XSPC x20 750 pump lacks the power it seems according to this but I have seen people running this pump with x3 rads and 3 blocks without flow rate issues.

So what I have now done is make shopping carts for import of a custom loop at 2 shops. CPU block and pump at http://www.http://specialtech.co.uk and the rest at http://www.performance-pcs.com. This is a DDC MCP 355 pump which can basically handle anything. The rad is XSPC EX360 and a EK waterblock. This works out the same as getting the RX360 kit - R2800. At Titan Ice a loop will cost me about the same but you get support, warranty and local delivery obviously :)

NakedP where did you get the white tubing and what is the ID and OD? Let me know what you think, if you want I will link all of the custom loop components.

PS: I'm always hesitant giving out money on things before a lot of research but this backfires and I end up waiting to long and something new is on its way then I want that /facepalm

XSPC EX360 has 19fpi, so you'll need to run fans around 1100rpm and up. Just a heads up if you are aiming for absolute silence. Its not crazy dense like some rads at 30fpi, but you will need to stay above 1000rpm I'd say

The XSPC pump isnt too bad either, should handle a CPU + GPU block easily. EK's CPU block is very low restriction, and their newer GPU blocks are as well (full cover and GPU only). Cant comment on other brands of blocks, the details I have long forgotten.

And feel free to post your complete parts list, never hurts to let someone check an order, especially when its stuff that cant be returned easily

edit: and NP's tubing I'll guess to be 1/2 ID 3/4 ID judging by the comps on his CPU block

RS vs EX vs RX is just a trade off between silence and performance, with the EX being the middle ground, RS being for silence, and RX for best cooling. Neither is really better, they just do different things.

Spacing on the LTX looks good for those comps as well, should have around 10mm between each comp (35mm spacing, with 26mm diameter on the comps). Just something to check because I know the HF has tighter spacing on its ports and wont fit two BP comps.

The yate loons are sleeve bearing fans iirc, so do not place them horizontally. Sleeve bearings do not work properly in that orientation. They are also reasonably loud at full speed (although usually quieter than other fans for the same CFM), check out this link (I hope its the right one, cant actually check youtube at work) and the rest of the guys channel to hear for yourself.

Reservoir is good, and convenient.

Pump is also good, bit loud for my liking but nothing else wrong with it. And yes, I'm a silence freak, so my "too loud" might be just fine for you
