I tried it yesterday and it seems pretty good. Supposed to be a scratch free, eco friendly wash. Does anyone know about the chemicals they use in the long run?

Apparantly they've been using it for 40 years in Germany

gimmicks me thinks

the product might not cause scratches, but the dust and dirt definately will

From their FAQ ...

Question:
Will a waterless valet scratch my vehicle?

Answer:
No! Imagine dropping a stone into liquid wax, it will coat the stone completely and if moved on the car's surface it cannot scratch or cause any damage. Dust or dirt is encapsulated by the cleaning product and removed with special polishing cloths causing no scratching whatsoever.

I just got find history on the German part and that's tried and tested - so not sure about long term .... or whether the scratchnig claim is true!

I'm getting a detail too ...

This in Paulshof - about 500m from work, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Wouldn't be surprised if the chems are similar to those used for dry-cleaning.

Ill try it...

The only problem with detailing is you need to do it only when it needs to be done, sometimes it removes the layers of paint every time you do it.

Detailing isn't just paint correction...

This is what I got for detailing (2 day process)

A comprehensive paint ‘deep-clean’.
Extensive 9-stage wash treatment using pH neutral shampoo
Door shuts/hinges flushed clean
Vehicle pre-washed using foam cannon
Alloy wheels cleaned using pH neutral wheel cleaner - (front facing).
Tires scrubbed to remove soil and silcones that may cause browning and discolouration

Wheel arches pre-treated and flushed
Tar deposits treated and removed - (front facing)
Vehicle re-washed using the Two-Bucket Method, pressure washer rinsed and dried with Microfibre Drying Towels
Clay-bar used to remove bonded contaminants, like industrial fall out and tree sap.
Vehicle pressure washer rinsed again
A 2 stage machine polish
Application of a pre-wax cleanser to exterior body; cleans, and nourishes the paint to form an ideal base for a wax
Application of a carnauba rich wax.
Exterior trim dressed and protected

Wheels protected with wheel wax reduces carbon build up - (front facing)
Tire walls dressed

He hasn't see the car yet - so he can't quote exact until he see's it. However rough price is R1,250.00 for 2 days.

Place called Unique Finishes

I think this is a great way to clean your car if you giong to get it traded in or someone who's interested in buying it coming to check the car...a clean car will always sway someone to buy it...the flop with this is...now you won't want it dirty, and you'll tread lightly over every gravel or dust in the road lol...

Question:
What are the other benefits of using a waterless product on my car, apart from the eco-friendly aspect?
Answer:
Your vehicle will have a shine that is unequalled by any other car wash.

I have reservations on a claim that a waterless or rinseless wash will produce results unmatched by any other wash product. If that was the case, this product would be discussed a lot on detailing sites.

Another decent product is "Optimum No Rinse". Its not a waterless wash but rather a rinseless wash. Its much safer product if you concerned about swirl marks and protecting your wax/polish.

+1

Having seen ONR work I'm still wary about using it on a dusty car however it looks amazing.

nothing better than plain paint polish. it's just a very superficial "car wash"
