Waze

Not specifically, but you will likely see ones in your area or Wazers close to you. Wazer positions are not updated realtime for privacy reasons.
The main function for groups is actually to receive relevant reports for your general commute. They seem to be 'area bound' when they are created, which is likely why some can join and others can't find the group.

Something I never knew about waze, but found this morning - you can share your drive live with friends - it emails them a link and they can track you on a browser. Bloody awesome for when you've got friends/family doing a long trip and you want to keep up with their progress! (use the Share ETA button on the menu)

Thats a cool little feature actually..

Will re-install Waze when I get my new phone in a week or two.

Share the trip and Share your location are awesome

Rather than try explain where you are just open waze and send your location, the recipient Waze will navigate you right to them

Aye Waze is very good. Only thing it needs is lane display for some of the slightly more confusing roads, then it would be perfect.

On setting up a new 'slab I found Waze have deep-sixed groups which, it seems, breaks the feature that enable(s/d) us to get around the T(r)olls. As I use it rather sporadically I won't know any time soon if they have indeed broken it, can anyone else run a check and report back?

Apparently Waze has replaced Groups with something called Teams. I only see soccer related info under Groups/teams. If that's the change its pretty lame.

I just checked now on my iphone, and couldnt find the groups I belonged too. It looks like the old groups is gone.

Groups is gone. I was looking for the MyBB group and couldn't find it.

Groups were one of the first features we introduced in the early days of Waze. While they were fun while they lasted, we have come to believe that they are no longer a great fit with the way we see Waze shaping up in the future. For these reasons, groups will no longer be available starting on June 2nd. The good news is that they will be replaced by something that we think will be special and a lot of fun. Stay tuned Wazers, great things are about to begin.

So groups are gone, but what about the e-toll avoidance? Was that intrinsically linked or what?

This is why I asked, I haven't been able to confirm whether we've, for now, lost that facility and I don't do enough travel out that way to check. It'd be right handy if someone could definitively settle this ..someone, someone, anyone?

Groups are gone and was replaced with the teams for the current World Cup 'Football Face Off' event.
What happens after the World Cup remains to be seen.

I'm not sure how you link this to tolls, as the avoid toll option is still available under 'Menu / Settings / Navigation / Avoid Toll Roads' in the client.

I agree, I did a trip on Monday on the N3 with Waze and it directed me on and off the freeway. I find you must have data switched on. If your data is off it will not take notice of the etolls and direct you through them.

If your data is on you get the fastest alternative route.

Getting stuff done

I know about the avoid toll option. However, I know that at the introduction of the e-tolls they hadn't been flagged as toll roads yet, and this was circumvented via groups using an edited map. Good to hear that they added these abominations to the full maps as well!

Thanks for the info
