Just worked out that WBS wasted about 6 Gigabytes worth of bandwith with the frequent disconnections / reboot of UDT etc. Trying to download the last part of Solaris 10 x86 DVD for 2 weeks now and yep all the tools wget/nettransport/getright/flashget cannot survive the level of service we getting now.

I have it . If you want it , I will cut you a copy ..
U just need 2 come out to the east rand

Ghostim, the same thought occured to me - the amount of bandwidth being wasted on lost packets & all the retransmissions & lost retransmissions - now think about how that affects one's 3GB iBurst bandwidth cap......really no point to WBS' iBurst until WBS get their house in order - that includes the current lack of Customer Service & Support, messing with their customer's bank accounts /*insert rest of endless list here*/...

Happens to all of us.... And you wonder why the towers are suffed.... Been trying to download the latest Nero for 5 days now.... Falls over and over and over again.... WBS gives no accurate response why...

Well, i'm bugging out of iburst. Vodacom 3g is more stable than iburst. YES its expensive but at least it works and i can use it anywhere

WBS have really messed up a golden opportunity...

As soon as Telkomonopoly have processed my request on my existing isdn2a line, I will submitting my adsl application, if I need data on the run I will consider GPRS once MTN & CellC have decided to participate in Vodacom's price war ...

No TELSCUM !!!!!!! lost 4 days of income this month because the law say they can put their crap anywhere they want to. And their service sux At least Vodacom3g is trying to give customer service thats unheard of or banned in the new SA

ic, good luck with your future battles with $izwe.

Its a pity some of us dont have that 'luxury' of choice, meaning that if Telkomonopoly can't install a simple analog line over here so how can I expect ever having DSL connectivity. So we have to stick it out wit the Burst (me hopes the service I've been getting for the past 2 weeks continues).

But its good that you are 'cutting your losses' early.
So mate good luck, hope that application is processed sooner. :)

Hey there, If you want a copy of this I can easily arrange (work at Sun Microsystems) so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. We just need to arrange for you to come and pick it up from Midrand.

Thanks Stepper, I hope Telkomonopoly don't give me grief with the pre-approval line testing etc. If WiMax makes an appearance anytime soon I doubt I will fall into the wireless early adopter trap again.

I feel your pain, I have been downloading the suse 9.2 DVD iso. First time i never even bothered to check if it wasn't corrupt, i burned it and realised half way through the upgrade the dvd was corrupt, so I tried again. I sucked 3.2GB off the internet pretty quickly (about 8 hours or so) but the md5sum failed, so yet again I started a download while i went out, when i came back 12 hours later my computer is disconnected and i had to resume, and i got it about 2 hours ago, and guess what.... it failed the md5sum too. So i will keep downloading it untill i have it and it passes the MD5SUM, and frankly dont care if it "wastes" WBS's bandwith, thats the risk they take when messing with my connection. They should be worrying about wasting my time.. and dvd!
