1.5TB disks are far better bang for the buck. R975 for a Seagate 7200.11. Granted, less cache, etc, but I'm pretty sure that the performance difference will not really be noticeable.

For R2k, you can get two disks, and have 3TB.
 
The 2TB WD Black drive outperforms that Seagate 2TB XT drive.
 
Blacks also come with a 5yr warranty. Or has that changed??

3TB @ R2k is better. Raid will increase performance if that is what you are worried about...

5 hdd @ 1500 is a real bargain 500gb

5x 1tb hdd 2500 if I remember correctly pity I am not near midrand would have bought me a few and made quite a few bucks

i just don't know how they do it :/

I thought SSDs would become the craze now, show me a 500GB SSD :) @ a good price locally
 
isn't this article a little late? These drives have been available for some time! Considering that the WD Black 2tb is 7200rpm and SG is only at 5400rpm, I would think the WD would outperform the Seagate! However, knowing WD, the drive would prob. fail within its warranty while Seagate carries on working well past its warranty!

WD just don't make reliable Hard Drives! - Too many failures!
Samsung... err... cheap...
Seagate - My preference by far!
 
i have had one of the caviar black 1tb drives 64mb cache and it packed up within two weeks, not a great drive

The XT 2TB is 7200RPM as well, the normal Barracuda drives get up to 5900RPM in the 2TB flavour. I even posted a 2 links showing the Seagate beat the WD,they can't be that bad. If they are reasonable priced I would get one.
