I have a WD media player that I need to replace and have a budget of R1500 . I have been told that the Mygica avt585 is even better than the WD live tv unit. Any suggestions?

You can use the money you save to buy a TK617/MX3 Airmouse.
It plays back 10-bit h264, 10-bit h265, VP9, 4K videos at 200-250mbps bit-rate that the Mygica doesn't support.
There is 8GB storage and the plus model with 16GB storage and 5G wifi.
There is also a faster device for around R2000 but the above one should be fine for your needs and because it's the 1st time you switch to Android.

I got one last week.
It also ships with DHL not with the post office where some people got trouble with an unknown device in the past because they ordered more than 3 parcels a year. It also has clean firmware without any strange apps.
You can also choose to ship it to an AGS address in Hong Kong as it doesn't contain any batteries but the included DHL shipping might work out cheaper after the shipping discount you receive after telling to ship it with airmail to an AGS address as it's over 0.75kg.

A good app to buy is Yatse then you can cast any media you own from your phone to the media player.
It also has an Android/IOS remote control, airmouse, touch app only compatible with it and not other devices.
