Anybody out there :) who has had any experience with this media player. I am interested in buying one but have my doubts from all the reviews and research I have done.

Firstly, is there any tearing or shearing on the HD mkv or mp4 files. Also I need (going deaf) the SRT subtitles, how does the unit perform with these?

Any good alternatives in the same price range (going broke too :erm:).

Thanks.

I own one. I have never tried playing with SRTs, so I can't comment on that, but it is an amazing little piece of equipme and I've never had any real problems. Issues are sorted out quickly with regular firmware updates.

For the price you pay you can't go wrong. Buy it.

I also own one and although I have not played with SRTs either, I am very happy with the device.

In fact I use the device every evening and have not looked at SABC or ETV (I dont have DSTV or TopTV) for the past 2 1/2 years since I bought the WD device.

The latest firmware update now enables DVD menus which it previously did not, although I have not checked this myself.

I have it hooked up to a linux server where all my multimedia files reside and it works without any hassles.
