WD vs Seagate

You mean the Seagate Cheetah 10K.7 146GB or 300GB Ultra320 SCSI drives that, by definition, don't run on any kind of SATA , so aren't really the equivalent models and, being high end SCSI are breathtakingly expensive! Try around R4500 for the small one or  R8500 for the 300GB part! ...oh, and you still need a SCSI card to connect those to - thankfully a single channel controller is *heh* ..'cheap' at around R1700 (but if you're still in the game, the single channel SCSI RAID controller weighs in at around R4500.) And this is only for the 10krpm drives, you can bet the 15krpm units cost ..somewhat.. more.

So, that'd be a resounding 'no' for putting Raptors and Cheetahs in the same field. But it DOES make a case for how good the Raptors are, given they're now 'only' SATA I spec.

if you can find one
Oh yea mate, no worries - how many would you like? (but I hope you understand I'll want the cheque to clear in my bank account first, with numbers like that) :D
