Dude this happens, its computer hardware, things go wrong. Just keep in mind that if a realm is offline longer than 18 hours, blizzard credits you account with an extra day.

US maintenance is terrible compared to EU.
I've yet to see EU maintenance completed and the server comes back up with all kinds of weird things happening.

there were times when the EU servers were offline for 3 days and when they came back online everyone and mean everyone could not escape the server lag for 2 weeks after.

note only some servers though
We jumped servers during this period to low pop servers, to avoid the lag.
In my 3+ years of Wow I have been credited 7 free days so there were not that many problems.

yer this was ages ago, was around the time when blizzard changed to Telia and added about 10 new realms! Before Naxx even!!

Thing about EU is that they've got about 6-15 hours to learn from the mistakes made in US maintenance. Another benefit of playing in Europe, I guess.

Yeah, TH biggest post maintenance has been inexplicable lag spikes till things settle down. Been pretty lucky on that server.
