We are looking for a developa

Had the same thing happen to me. Only issue was my manager answered the phone and this guy went on to tell him that he is a recruiter looking for me.
I've found they also don't know the difference between C#,Object C, C or C++.

I think companies know they are useless so the only reason these recruiters are so aggressive in getting you to send your CV is so they can mine it for contacts.

If you've been working in that field that you're recruiting for, for 10 years, you'll be an excellent recruiter.
Not necessary. I've found the older they get they often hire someone paying them R3K per month to do the cold calling to get clients and CVs for their database. Or alternatively they work from home, part time or flexi hours and have kids to take care of so they don't care about doing a proper job.

You guys in the C based languages have it easy.

ever heard of Coldfusion? no? well the recruiters have not either, so they see something starting with a C and think BINGO!!
I have gotten calls for C#,C++, Objective C, Java.

its quite terrible actually.
I have actually been thinking about just changing to c# or Java and starting fresh. start as a Junior somewhere get a new Language under my belt and forget about ColdFusion, until I move to a country where it is actually used...

Me: You looking for a developer?
Agent: Yes, an ASP.NET Developer
Me: Ok. C# or VB.NET?
Agent: No, an ASP.NET Developer

seriously.jpg

Not to even talk about the sub technologies. If a recruiter phones and say they have an asp.net developer position available and I ask is it web forms or mvc, I get told Yes (?) or get silence afterwards and then "I don't know". Recruiter can't answer questions or say I must ask their client if they want me for an interview. They just add zero value so it's hard to take them seriously.

96% of recruiters have no clue what they are recruiting for.
I am in the job market yes, that is true. The overseas thing didn't work out, so there.

They don't know what C is, or the difference between C++, C, Objective C, or even Java is. They are all commission chasers.

In this country, the whole recruitment industry needs urgent governance and regulation.

Labor brokering is coming back into vogue, too.

The first time I for this answer it was funny. When I realized it's the norm when it constantly happened it just made me feel like saying "stop wasting my time you stupid woman"

A lot of larger companies are now using overseas call agents to contact candidates. I used to get these calls from people in India or Pakistan who can hardly speak Engrish.

Agent: You like job?
Me: No I found a job thanks.
Agent: You no like job?
Me: No I like my job.
Agent: But you look job?
Me: I don't want another job!!
Agent: Why you look job?
Me: I was looking for a job ages ago yes. I am no longer interested.
Agent: No interested in job ok. So you like nadda job then?

Me: .............................

LOL at some comments here... well, some or most of them are doing something right. All the fancy glass buildings, the latest bulding architectures, all the latest BMWs, SUVs standing in the parking lots. yES, I feel the pain.
