It helps that there is such a good (complete?) coverage of digital signal there. :o
 
It also help that people aren't being shafted for it. A DTB (digital terrestrial broadcast) box can be had for £9. Nothing fancy, but it does the job well enough. And that's once off - there's no monthy fee for using it.

It didnt start off at £9 though. When I bought my mother one it was more than 5 times that iirc. ;)
 
True, but I would say the R&D costs have been recovered. £9 is the cheapest option that I know of - offers the same channels but doesn't look so great (I seem to remember it's pink, but that might be the super cheap dvd player) and doesn't have all sorts of connections. The one I bought myself is a philips that has all sorts of connectors, cost around £40. My point is it can be made available without shafting the general public. Sadly it probably won't...
