Testing the cheapest new laptop in South Africa

MyBroadband tested the most affordable laptop in South Africa, priced at only R1,499, and found it to offer surprising value for the money.

We were initially sceptical about whether the Proline Celeron V116 would work at all after seeing many negative reviews.

What I would test as well. The article doesn't mention if the laptop can even be upgraded to Windows Copilot.... I mean 11.
I would still spend the money on an old Macbook with intel chip and install Linux. Set up and running in a few minutes, rather than "about a day of setting up."

The Game salesperson also informed us that the warranty only covers software, but not the hardware on the laptop.

As per comments on the previous iteration of this story, have you informed said salesperson that SA law says otherwise?

The screen resolution is only 1366 x 768

The laptop took around 5 minutes and booted into the Windows 10 setup, where we could connect to a Wi-Fi network and create an account.

When we finally reached the desktop, the laptop battery was at 3%, even though it had been plugged in for nearly half an hour.

What year is it? 1995?

If you can't afford anything,.... it will have to do. But that is the only person who is going to throw money at this.
