Huawei has become the target of an aggressive trade ban by the United States in the latest step taken by the global superpower against the company.

The US has regularly criticised Huawei, claiming that its network equipment is possibly being used by the Chinese government to spy on other countries.

They can't replace the kit for numerous reasons:

1) Imagine the change management required for that
2) They are tied into multi-year licencing contracts
3) What alternatives are there. I know there are, but not at that cost.
4) Why should they, unless it impacts any of their relationships with the USA or companies linked to the USA

Spying is not really the issue, all encrypted, the argument is probably more that they'd be able to take it offline.

This crap all came about about because of the half baked news article about the telnet protocol.
The USA politicians took this as a magic bullet, to begin the process to shoot down their 5G competition.
5G for the states is a potential half a trillion dollar industry over the next few years.
Yet they choose to ignore the blatant and flagrant security issues with Cisco kit , and incumbent social behemoths.
This is about money, greed, political lobbying, and putting the worlds tech development at risk, all because of a few players who are narcissistic sociopaths.
