Weak wireless signal

I just got a new wireless router so I could be able to connect my pc in the house to the office network, but the signal strength is terrible. I loose more than 50% over a distance of 10m going trough 2 external walls? Is this normal signal loss? Ive looked at adding a AP but im sure that a wireless network should be able to function further that 10m? The router is a D-Link DSL-2650U and the pci card is a D-Link DWA-525 Wireless N 150 PCI Adapter. Please help!
 
Assuming antenna are placed correctly, try placind the AP on the window ledge. You may need to move the AP around to get the best signal as all kinds of things ca cause interference.
 
The router is on a desk next to 2 printers and is about 1m higher than the pc in elevation. The router came assembled so i didnt connect the attena myself. Should I really be seeing 50% loss over 10m?
 
Look into the driver of the wireless card. I had the same problem this morning 90% signal loss over 10m installed a newer driver and now its excellent.
 
Also check that the DSL-2560U is transmitting on 100% power:
Wireless -> Advanced -> Transmit Power -> 100%

Also check that your transfer rate is not set at auto (also in the Advanced Settings section:
54g™ Rate: 54 Mbps
Multicast Rate: 54 Mbps
