I dont get it, why is it so hard to get a fully working Esim on my Wearable

I've now tried 2 operators with all sorts of mixed results, I dont get it, why is it so hard, or like everything else
nobody quite knows how to support these in SA, too newfangled

first tried afrihost airmobile, back and forth a few times with the bizarre authentication system of taking a photo with your ID number and the date,
repeat 100 times until they satisfied its clear,
okay cool then data works but SMS not working, calls not working, but Data is working,

wanted to add the Esim again, they create me ANOTHER number instead of the original number I wanted,
complained a bunch of times, goes into a loop with them trying a dozen things but nothing fixing the problem,

okay, since its not super critical, decide to use my FNB connect Prepaid Esim, works, but again same story as before
SMS doesn't work, calls dont work, but Data works,

now the twist, I have another top up FNB connect sim, try to port to an Esim, and set this up,
surprise surprise, Emergency calls only, call FNB they tell me sorry not supported at all,

okay like WTF, your prepaid product works fine,, but top up does not work?

You want MVMOs to support this when none in the country do properly. Get a MTN sim or Voda sim to get it working right first time

With a monthly fee. No thanks.
There's no monthly fee. I have a MTN eSIM on my watch. Prepaid. Works perfectly. Data share with my main MTN contract so I don't even load it with data separatly. Calls and SMS' work, but I don't use it for that other than emergency contact when out running/hiking/etc.

There's a monthly fee if you want to have the same number on your eSIM as your main device (aka 2 sims with the same number). If you don't need that, then there's no fee.

I had issues with my smart watch - i got it sorted by visiting MTN experiece centre in Morningside JHB (on Rivonia road). The guy there knew what he was doing.

My watch and phone have the same number now. If i go somewhere without my phone (running, cycling etc), I can use my watch to make a calls, listen to music etc etc. It is an extra R25, for me no big deal.

As per poster 2 posts above - if you don't need them to have the same number, you can avoid the additional cost. If you still struggling, go the the MTN experience centre to get it sorted out.

here in the republic of the western cape, is there such an experience centre?
considering the hoops I had to jump through that there are only 5 MTN shops that can swap a SIM card properly,

The peeps at MTN V&A are always helpful.

If I'm using a prepaid e-sim in an iPhone, is it possible to link it with my Apple Watch that also supports e-sim?

I see Vodacom has the One Number service available but not sure if it's applicable to prepaid-only users or only contract subscribers.

I had this working up until recently my esim just stopped working. Queried with vodacom and they can't find the number or anything related to selling me the esim.

Haven't bothered to sort it out again because the people helping you seem clueless.

Can you elobrate how you got yours working? i also have a phone that does not support esim but have a watch with esim( this stuns the support lol). i also used it for emergencies when running etc. worked very well.
