So the weather in my end of the world is crap and i notice that my download speeds have dropped. My signal quality & strength is still good???? So does the signal still get scrambled?

Clouds overhead and winds (unless REALLY full of flying sand) don't matter either. What I have seen take down a connection are the monstrous highveld downpours where we can't see across the street ..but as soon as that rain dries up we're all good again!

Signal isn't typically affected by weather, but of course, strong winds can blow the antennae around, and there have been cases where backhauls are affected by the wind. Wind is the biggest enemy.

*must.avoid.antennae/antennas.thrombosis  .. But seriously, I've got a site that's in something of a valley that tunnels the wind nicely - and when the wind gets going the 24dBi (Hyperlink) grid I've got aimed at the Helderkruin tower sings nicely ...and doesn't drop signal (I love that site, it was such a good 'in yer face' at some nimrods that tried to tell me off). Also the HDK high site is really up in the wind, and I don't recall there being signal breaks. But, for all that I'm being a PITA :D here, I'll concur that very low beamwidth backhaul antennas (dishes, yes?) being blown off-aim would be a problem.

I do get better signal strength in winter with no leaves in the trees outside my house
You would, you have a distinct lack of little water-filled (radiant) energy-sucking leaves absorbing the signal. Of course, if your trees were conifers there wouldn't be this summer/winter signal strength difference.

oh, dont forget those nasty tooth fairies as well, that is always a sure signal killer
