I'm not sure if this is the right section, but I'm sure one of the mods team will move it if they feel it should go elsewhere.

I want to get a weather station going.

There are many others who've done this before me, so I'm not planning on wasting time and money reinventing the wheel.

What I'd like is some sort of device that can collect the information. That's obvious. If the device has an ethernet port, then it must be able to upload the information some place where we can work with it and pull it into a web page. If the device connects via USB or RS232 / 485, then we need to look at getting a pc of some sort near the device and for it to then dump the data onto that machine.

Bottom line is I'd like to see the current temperate and wind speed at a couple of locations via a web page.

What kit is out there?

What does it cost?

Where do we buy it?

I was thinking of building on one of these a while back but for a while I see the local electronics shops sells a kit that does this. Its a french company I think (Lacrosse). It does temp, humidity, pressure, wind speed, rain and connects via wireless to the base station which upload to the results to the PC. Last time I looked I think it was R2000 or so.

Very tempting...
