I suppose this has already been asked before but at the risk of sounding redundant ; will the connectivity be affected by rain or thunderstorms? Common sense tells me it will be affected. I mean; doesn't weather affect everything ? It is after all a force of nature..
 
only when your power goes out re: thunderstorm, or when the physical tower gets hit by lighting and is left unoperational.

they guarantee 98.9% uptime to their clients (sabc, mtn, vodacom etc)
 
Because the average distance between your modem and your nearest cell is expected to be below 3 - 5 km's, I doubt the service will be affected by the weather, in anything but the most extreme conditions. How often does the weather affect your cellphone?
