Web Africa ADSL provisional changes (November)

IS international access is killed after your cap.

Your local access is unrestrictied, no silly pools, it will offer you unshaped local access similar to saix accounts currently, after the cap.

There is no silly tricks, you get your remaining 30gig on local bandwidth and its by far usable for anything, even the download frenzy torrent mabobs :)

Thats not exactly honest ... if you look at pg2 of your IS ADSL WHOLESALE RATE CHANGES dated 3 October 2005 you will see ...

When the user exceeds the ‘subscribed to’ data cap, the international connection will be fully restricted, while the local connection is allocated to a bandwidth segment shared by all excess users.

Time will tell if this has any practical implication, however your users should know that this clause exists.

All I can say is forget about gaming on local SgS servers with Internet Solutions.

If there's any truth in that WiseCrack, then im def staying with WA. Most of our bandwidth is dedicated to gaming on SGS...

Same applies to SAIX accounts or atleast will until November hardcapping, except SAIX doesnt tell users about it. This is nothing new, it doesnt mean you'll get a degraded service.

Obviously there will be a SAIX vs IS bashing via resellers, for starters.. we know who SAIX is and what degraded service you have experienced month over month. The fact is, from our side, we offer month to month, if IS is as poor as some people try and make it out to be, then feel free to cancel your account and hop onto the proven "crappy" saix network. :)

Then again, did everyone all of a sudden forget all the SAIX performance degrading posts made here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=27964 or the very "stable" international latency posts made all over relating to dead ssh sessions or unreliable international VPN connections.

The List goes on. For the best part, everyone knows what crappy service they can expect from SAIX, if IS tend to be crap, we will first have to find out on a bigger scale and only then can it be compared on the same line of crappy service.

Pfft. Web Africa could start an "SGS" branded ASDL offering that offers nothing but access to the SGS games servers :p

Bundle that with 1Gb unshaped international and I'd be happy.

Awesome Idea!

Yet again! Rub that KY on nicely, cause Telkom is shafting everybody yet again, and the sad thing is the majority of people does not even know what unfair play is happening.

Make that a 2 gig unshaped and im all for something like it :P

The only downside to this solution is that we still get charged for the usage that you rack up to the SGS servers (not as much as downloading off websites or P2P but it all costs). It's a good idea though and who knows, we might look into something like this.
