The following changes in the ADSL product we resell that are due to be enforced by Telkom wholesale as of 1 November.

- Prices increases for large cap accounts
- Per gigabyte billing
- Hard capping on all accounts (you will only be able to get to Web Africa's homepage when capped to "top up")

I wish I could bring good news. At *this stage* it looks as if we will be forced to go ahead with the following changes:

Provisional pricing is as follows:

3gb - R199 (reduced from R250p/m)
5gb - R342 (replacing 10GB)
10gb - R570 (replaces the 30GB)

4gb unshaped - R499 (unchanged)

Prepaid
Shaped PerGB R75
Unshaped perGB R125

All prices include VAT.

The above represents a "worst case scenario".
We are still fighting this but running out of time and have to at least inform user of the impending likelyhood.

What is the difference between prepaid and fixed accounts?
Prepaid GB's - "Carry over" like cellphone minutes however they do not expire. Where as the fixed accounts are cheaper per GB put your usage gets reset each month.

What about the 30GB accounts?
At the price we forced to pay per gb its unreasonable to offer a 30GB account. For those clients that do want larger accounts there is the per GB custom option.

Will you be offering accounts based on the IS network?
We may if there is enough demand.

How do I move over / cancel / downgrade etc ?
We will send out a communication regarding the logistics during the course of the week.

Will there be another special for November?
Not at this stage but it is a possibility. We have always maintained we want to be as competive as possible without compromising our business model or service.

Why is it provisional - will the price increase even more??
No, however we have not ruled out the posibility that we may have some success regarding the legal route. This is clearly anticompetitive behaviour as TelkomInternet have shown no sign of informing users regarding hardcapping.

I was just wondering now....what happens if i reach the cap on one of your accounts? Do i get cut off completely? Or do i still get local traffic at normal transfer rates and INT traffic at reduced transfer rates?

does this include 30 gig local traffic after you are capped?
..... I think you should read the post really carefully mate..

omw those prices are HARSH ........... what to do?
Telkom should be drawn and quartered :(
dunno what i am gonna do with 3gb..........and no ways i can pay 570 rand for only 10gb.
the light at the end of the broadband tunnel just went out.

AMAZING HOW ATTRACTIVE SENTECHS SOFTCAP LOOKS NOW!!!!

That's what I'm wondering because if Openweb can offer 5GB including 30GB Local Cap @ R345 per month, SAIX isn't even the least bit competitive.

I guess this is one of thows "WHOOPS" goodbye clients thing...

Web Africa should have offered some IS acounts instead.

i'll be using imagine for 30gig local at the same price....very disappointed :(

Or 90gig local/9gig international at R600pm :)

Yeah well that sucks.
I will be moving along then to greener pastures ie IS.
Well kudos WA it's been a fun ride with you guys great service and so forth.
Well the only bad thing will be losing my email adress I guess.

PS Will I have to cancell my debit order with you guys or will you not deduct at the end of the month?

Thanks for the info Matt. Will be changing to the 10GB option. R2250 for 30GB is just crazy. Keep us posted.

hehe, alot of people live in these forums !

squatter camp around posts....

I will probably stay with 10GB at WA. it's cheaper than IS, and i doubt i will go into the 30gb local cap... hopefully your "worst case scenario" prices get's a bit better :)

ONe large drum circle here at myadsl....

Webafrica, if u run out of bandwidth, is it possible to purchase, say a GIG? even if u not prepaid??
