Web Africa ADSL provisional changes (November)

Hate to say it WA u might be loosing a few clients...

www.saol.com
ADSL2 - 2 Gigabytes Shaped R 169.00
ADSL5 5 - Gigabytes Shaped R 299.00
ADSL10 - 10 Gigabytes Shaped R 349.00

These accounts will be on the SIAX backbone

So which is better for gaming? SAIX or IS? That would be the biggest deciding factor in my decision.

mmm, SAOL pricing good... ok WA, i really dont feel like moving again, we need you to match these people :)

Depends on what network your gaming server is for local (ie. best for you and game server to be on the same). There is a peering issue between Telkom and IS.
International IS uses statelite which pings slower than Telkom's cable.

This is SAIX bandwidth. We have considered IS of course and are in talks with them. However IS is satellite bandwidth versus SAIX's fibre.

That said we may just offer both accounts if there is a large enough demand for the IS network.

If you phone them they can email you the whole list, they just not allowed to put on website till Nov 1 .... but after getting the email I MUST say they quite a bit better then WA

Yeah I hate to mention it but I wil go with Openweb's openbrowse. Pay R262 for 3gig of international and 30gigs local and still be able to browse international sites at 192k.

Both SAOL and OpenWeb AND even Nukecap are based on nov 1 .... OpenWeb and Nukecap have on the site ... SAOL .. phone and they send you a nice descriptive email ....

I would have thought WebAfrica would have done some research into alternatives.

Just spoke to the Imagine guys...told me the will be selling their 10gig for R574 ex vat (but thats with 30gig local) so thats my choice...

I'm going for openweb. they are offering 10GB with 30GB local for R625 including VAT.

Imagine is R654.36c including VAT! I'm afraid to say, for me it is the price that counts! Broadband is expensive enough already!

If reply to anemail I sent then regarding changes

Dear SAOL.com Client

Due to a new billing structure implemented by Telkom, we have been forced to discontinue our "large cap" shaped ADSL packages.

As of 1 November 2005 we will be offering a new range of ADSL products ranging from low cost basic packages to premium and unshaped packages aimed at businesses and multiple users.

All our new ADSL accounts will have "top up" capability, meaning that once the cap has been reached, the account can be "recharged" via our website or telephonically via our sales team using your credit card.

What's going to change?

The following changes will take effect on the 1st of November 2005:

Once your cap is reached, your account will be "hard capped", meaning that you will have no internet connectivity after reaching your cap - you will however have access to www.saol.com in order to recharge your account.

Your account will be placed on the ADSL2 option by default - if you would like to be placed on a different option, please contact us on 0861007265 or [email protected] .

You can buy more bandwidth to supplement your monthly cap - shaped bandwidth is R 69.00 / Gig and Unshaped is R 129.00 / Gig.
Our ADSL options include:

ACCOUNT MONTHLY CAP CONCURRENT SESSIONS

ADSL2 2 Gigabytes 1 Shaped R 169.00
ADSL5 5 Gigabytes 1 Shaped R 299.00
ADSL10 10 Gigabytes 1 Shaped R 349.00

ADSL5 PREMIUM 5 Gigabytes 4 Shaped R 399.00
ADSL10 PREMIUM 10 Gigabytes 4 Shaped R 649.00

ADSLX1 1 Gigabyte 4 Unshaped R 129.00
ADSLX4 4 Gigabytes 4 Unshaped R 499.00
ADSLX10 10 Gigabytes 4 Unshaped R 999.00

No Technical Changes!

You will not need to make any changes to your setup or your account.

The changes to your account type and pricing will be made to our administration system by our staff.

Happy Surfing!

As always if you have any questions or comments please feel free to email us at [email protected].

Best regards

Do you think they still read these forum?
My bet is that their client's debit orders go off 1-5 November, then suddenly Axxess stops answering their phones, a few removal trucks pitch up in the middle of the night and cheers.
Business the SA way.
