Consumers be aware of Web Africa's questionable billing practices. Here's the experience I had with Web Africa and I share it so that other Consumers do not get ripped off by Web Africa.

at 10pm on 30 September 2014 I activated the 90 GB Capped Internet Service.
On 3 October 2014 I cancelled the service.

However, Web Africa initially charged me for ALL of September even though I had their service for only 2 hours during September. After numerous complaints they gave me a credit for unused days for September.

However, when I cancelled the service on 3 Oct 2014 I got charged R419 for ALL of October 2014 AND they charged me another R419 for ALL of November 2014.

The Consumer Protection Act clearly states that Consumers have the right to cancel service with 21 Business days notice. I gave more than a 21 business days notice of cancellation.

Web Africa's response: "The cancellation policy provide for the Consumer Protection Act is not part of our terms and conditions you have agreed when signing up with Web Africa. You have agreed that you will adhere to Web Africa terms and conditions, while you will be rendering the services on our Networks."

An intentional violation of the CPA.

I'm no lawyer, but surely if a contract (in this case their terms and conditions) states something which is not legal (i.e. does not conform to the CPA), doesn't that render the contract invalid?

A load of nonsense on their part IMO, but hopefully a Mybb contract lawyer can shed some light on this.
