For those of you that are WA customers on one of the DSL Complete packages, if you haven't noticed yet, WA have increased your caps!

Just a question:

Those of us that signed up for the web africa special a few months ago R499 for the complete 7, will we also get the upgrade?

Must say, well done to WA for upping the caps! At least they have something competitive now :)

edit: I see if I look at my package summary, it shows ive got a 30gig account \:D/ YAY!

DenSweep, to confirm, the upgrade to 30GB's at the special rate was intentional and will not be downgraded.

The original special that was a 16GB and 4MB line is now a 30GB and up to 10Mbps line, no additional charge.

What is weird is i have a 15gig topup (mistake from WA cous WAGE FTP counted towards cap) and the account shows as 30 gig (under settings of customer zone-services), WAGE freezone is 7gig, but the total usage is 37gig.

Makes me think that the account isnt properly upgraded.

edit: the whote top up thing makes it very difficult to understand the usage, does the topup auto add to fixed cap usage? or do you add the fixed cap and then the topup? which would be used first?

Hi Midkemia, Can you pm me your account code, and I'll look into this for you.

On the DSL Console, pre-paid usage is shown on a separate line.
If you start a month with 5gb of fixed cap, and 1gb of pre paid. The fixed cap is used first, and only when it's completely finish, will it start using your pre-paid.

Does that answer your question?

I also downloaded about 2.6Gb from Steam the other day, but according to my usage, only 1.79GB was allocated as Freezone. waCliff, any ideas?

I remember seeing a post somewhere that said that Steam doesn't always use the servers in the region selected or something like that.

Just a shame that the 11gb for R99 special wasn't upgraded at all, It's not all that special anymore even though it is still discounted

Ok, but it obviously used some of it!

Can someone from WA please enlighten us?

Thanks

Questions:
how have connection speeds been through WA?
Has the "peering politcs" between MWEB and themselves been cleared up?
Are they allowing connections to one another's news servers now?

Consistently good for me most of the time.
Downloading with WA news server averages 200 kbs, but right now is going up to 300kbs; if I use giganews (soon to be switching to Astraweb) then it will go full speed.
Bar a few occasions I can watch Youtube at 480 k without buffering
Browsing generally great to fast.

Am a happy customer and can recommend WA (am on complete 7 and with 30 gigs, I feel almost like I am on uncapped!!)

Same as Fulton17. newsswerver DLs avg abt 200+. Browsing, youtube no problems. Gaming bad Company 2 is also no hassles. Also on Complete 7. worth every cent!

I had the same problem downloading from the WAGE FTP server. There was apparently a bug in the system and I was credited 12gb for the hassle (originally had 5gb of freezone traffic taken from my cap).

Just contact support and have them rectify it.

I was still on 16GBs till the last time I checked yesterday.

Got a call today (awesome service btw!) confirming my line has been fully migrated to WA for the complete 7 special. Checked shortly afterwards, and my account reflected 30GBs.

Even abusing the heck out of my line with youtube and the likes, I'm going to have some trouble draining 30GB/month.

Little downside: in my area, 4Mbps sync is just not going to happen. I'm currently on 2Mbps/512Kbps, but that's still awesome coming from 384K.

Also have some inconsistent WAGE numbers, but not too worried, as I still have plenty of bandwidth for this month, and I actually got the 16GB for April for free from WA while my old ISP dragged their feet transferring my line to Telkom.

I can't say the normal Complete 7 is a bargain, but for what I'm paying, I doubt I'll get a feasible alternative anytime soon!
