(Side Note: I just had connectivity issues out of the blue for the past few minutes... not sure if that was WA or not - but was resolved as mysteriously as it started)

With numerous Web Africa outages in the past week/s, unlike anything I've experienced from an ISP in the past few years, citing "Hardware Issues" as the cause...

1) Why is your hardware causing such k@k?
2) Did you invest in sub-standard hardware?
3) Will you be replacing that hardware with better hardware?
4) Is the problem just whoever is not setting up the hardware correctly?
5) or is it just not being maintained correctly?

You've said numerous times that your premium prices are a result of your own Tier 1 premium network etc... this is the only reason I'm asking these questions.

I have not had any problems today. Had issues the other morning when they were fixing things and would have been in kuk if I didn't have a backup as I didn't see the notice.

I have noticed inconsistent international speeds for no apparent reason and unrelated to time of day.... what I do see is that in general traffic routed through the UK is fast whereas traffic routed through Hong Kong to the US west coast is unacceptably slow... perhaps more work needs to be done on international routing... My link to WA's node is consistently fast

Hi Guys

The hardware that failed was a Chassis for one of our Cisco Cores. Was a strange one as it did not take down the whole router and only caused issues on certain modules. We are currently reviewing the layout of the network to see how we can simplify the process to ensure smoother transition in the event of us having a similar failure in the future.
I do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

With regard to international routing Hobbit can you please PM me some trace routes and I will see what we can do to improve the situation.

I have to admit, its replies like those that remind me why I'm happy with WA - thanks Alan.
