Web Africa Website Down

I can't get on, what's the deal?

No issues on our website at the moment and could be related to your connection only. Have you tried to speak to your ADSL provider to see if they could find the problem as it could definitely be peering related?

I haven't > I am changing to Web Africa uncapped at the end of the month and just wanted to order the service on my profile. First time I have had this problem, so hopefully it comes right before then, or I'll just login with my MTN service and do it that way.

Flatty did telkom finally sort out the adsl up there or are the cables still being stolen?

Telkom never replaced our cables after the 3rd time they were stolen - running Mikrotik to the ADSL exchange. Now the only problem is Telkom's faulty gear in the exchange: random ping spikes right up to 3000ms, and even complete failure to reach the authentication server.

Silly techie sticks a laptop in at the exchange, gets 39ms, says all is fine. So, I buy a new modem, run ping tests to Mweb and Web Africa's authentication servers, with deviations of 580ms to both, just to prove to these twits that my gear is not faulty - seriously, how can 3 modems do the same thing?

The most my wireless link deviates is 20ms, and I know why that is - I didn't align them again once I replaced a Mikrotik RB (Arby :p) that got nuked by lightning. When they're aligned it sits on a flat 6ms, all the time.

Anyway, I submitted the stats to the big boss in Tzaneen and he is getting transmission to sort it out.

You can thank Gypsy for that, she has a way with people i.e. irritating the crap out them until they give up.

Is it still down for you?

She is back, thanks. ;)
