Just received notice from Web Afrika that they have increased the bandwidth allocation for their DSL Complete packages for FREE.

I am now getting 30GB on my DSL Complete 7 package from the previous 16GB !

The increases are:
384 kbps: 3 to 5 GB increase
384 kbps: 5 to 10 GB increase
10mbps : 3 to 5GB increase
10mbps : 6 to 10GB increase
10mbps : 12 to 20GB increase
10mbps : 16 to 30GB increase

Now we are just waiting for Telkom to reduce ADSL access (port) charges ...

Are you on the Mybb complete 7 special?

Webafrica Lies to people!

Telkom Freezing period does not effect new adsl lines ect ect. Telkom has explained this. It only relates to maintenance on their core network.
They expect dealing with Telkom during that time to be a mission so they are warning of possible delays. Sure, that might be a bit over-cautious but its hardly a lie. I prefer that approach to being kept in the dark about possible hiccups. Personal preference I guess.

Well they are actually blaming Telkom. If Telkom knew about such unprofessional announcements I think they would ask them to take it down. Anyways I don't really care.

The message says "delays and longer processing time may be experienced".
We're just giving you a heads-up.

I've personally spoken to people at Telkom who have confirmed that many of their normal installation technicians are busy with work related to the world cup, and as a result DSL installs are lagging quite badly in some areas.

I *really* don't see what you're moaning about.

so why did you respond to this thread?

Why are you responding to the thread? Its doesn't effect me much cause I already have adsl. But I was moaning cause Webafrica say that there will be delay and Telkom say there WILL NOT be delays. That's why I'm moaning.

The Op mentioned the upgrade s/he got without asking for it. You on the other hand brought in Telkom, which had bôgerrôl to do with the original post.

erm... I still have NO idea what you're moaning about.

This is true. I was at the PE stadium on Friday and there were plenty of techies there. I found out that they are installing lines within the stadium for plenty of broadcasters, media and other stakeholders. These were from the Telkom room on site to the suites, offices, etc at the stadium.

Was told that the backbone side was completed at the stadium but plenty of business lines and business telephone systems were being installed. These techies are dedicated to working in the stadium zone for the duration of the SWC. So yes, I do believe that it could some delays for other customers.

And telkom tells me "They will phone me back" and no prizes for realising that they never do.

I have far more faith in WA than I do Telkom.

Of course Telkom is going to talk rubbish - that is what they do best. Sorry but I am so sick and tired of Telkom "fixing" my line and all their promises
