Hi Guys

I'm trying something completely new to me.

I've registared a domain. And would like to try and design it myself. I don't have the faintest idea where to start. Is there a link where i can get a step by step guide.... maybe some one here has advice ?

If you want to teach yourself this stuff, check out W3Schools. IMHO that's the best way - mess around, see what works, what doesn't and learn something.

Otherwise, a good starting point is to find a template, and then break it to your liking. There was a thread somewhere this morning about templates with some good resources.

HTH

Thanx Bru .... Your a life saver...

Yes, like they say, take something and bork it, you'll learn fast enough... :D

Nothing is the best teacher like practical examples...

Just make sure your finsihed product will work with both IE and Mozilla.... ;)

Don't frighten the learner!

I work in Firefox. And while you try to anticipate the sh.t, the worst part of any job is gritting your teeth and opening the thing in IE.

My typical week.

@Chiskop and Librarian

Thanx for all your help.... I started the desiging via HTML scrip.... Very interresting and i'm having alot of fun... I could deff. have this as a new hobby......LMAO:D

Nvu (pronounced N-view)
Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (which stands for "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.

(PS: The claims are a slight bit of Yankee over the top marketing)

Sweet !!!!! Thanx Kaspaas !

Nvu is the way to go with FileZilla for updating.

Enjoy!

PS Get to grips with style sheets via TopStyle Lite. Its worth the effort.

Did you upload it to the right folder, the right folder being www or public_html? Is there another file in that folder named index.html or default.htm/html? If there is delete all those files and it should work. If it still doesn't, simply rename the file to the one you deleted. Servers sometimes have these little differences. Some first display index.html then index.htm then... So just keep trying and it should work. :)
