Good day .

Today i was talking to an estate agent on buying a house and in the process got to learn their site is years behind . I then asked them to take it over and set up a meeting . Now the problem
I Had my projects but nownere near a commercial site . What would be the best solution . Im thinking of a monthly fee and maybe also take over their photography . What would constitute a fair fee and is there anyone willing to help
 
Interestingly enough, I am building such a package in my spare time. Basically, a SaaS model - a system to handle all the estate agent's listings, branches and customers.

Then, once I have alpha out, within the next two weeks, I will aim to intergrate into portals like Private Property etc. SMS + email integration too. Mobile app to also come down the line.

Depending on what the estate agent wants, a fair monthly fee could range from R200 to R2 000 to R20 000. Just depends on the requirements.

I have a few commercial sites I maintain.
When starting off, the client typically opts for the ad-hoc maintenance and development at a per hour rate. After 2 or 3 months we enter into a retainer agreement. This gives the client time to assess abilities and see if we are a fit. The retainer is based on a certain number of hours purchased, and a discount on the hourly rate is given based on the number of hours. I work on a 2 calendar month notice period.

If we exceed the purchased hours in a given month, the standard rate is charged for the over hours. Typically though I just start using hours from the next month. Only if we go over again do I bill for the extra.
If the hours in a given month are not all used up, I roll them over to the next month. Can only accumulate for one month.

The above system has worked well for me for a number of years now, and keeps both parties happy.

SEO is a scam, can be done in a few minutes and even maintenance is simple..

Unfortunately the IT world takes advantage of peoples lack of knowledge but hopefully I aim to try challenge that!

I offer any mybb member free advice if unsure on decisions anything IT related to make sure you don't get scammed/bad deal :)

Well if those are the only things you would alter and you call it "SEO" and charge for it, then I can see why you would call it a scam. But SEO of course isn't just that. I'm sure you know that (or not). I'm also sure you know that you can't just go around assuming that everyone who offers SEO are scammers. It really doesn't do much for your own credibility.

No need for me to justify but obviously everybody's time towards their area of expertise is worth something. Advice of course is always free but I don't see you mentioning that you'd physically sit and develop a full on content and social media strategy for free either.

What you are referring isnt actually SEO anymore. SEO is now so much more involved than simply hiding text in your html.

koeksGHT - what you are doing is correctly marking up a webpage, what should be happening anyway. That's NOT SEO, that's good web development.


What Dicebat is saying is SEO.
Structuring content to provide the maximum search ability. This could mean rewriting ALL the content on a clients site to structure it for a couple of specific keywords that they're aiming to get. Checking your page titles length so they don't get cut off when sharing via facebook/etc, making sure that missing content it handled correctly (I think it's a 403 to a "whoops page" and not a 404)
