Hi

I am looking for information on creating a web site, web portal which should have a database capability, inbuilt loyalty programme, which handles market segementation etc, ability to send sms's, communicate with facebook, twitter etc?

The website should allow people to register their details via sms and load it into the database.

Anyone know of any reputable companies whom I can contact aswell as the +/- price for creating something like this?

go to freelancer.com ... there are millions of indians who will do it cheap cheap. (~$600)

I dont have first hand experience with external development companies unfortunately. We do our dev all inhouse. However regarding pricing it can be anything from R50000 to R5million, depending on what you want to do. I'll put out feelers for development companies. You can pm me.

A lot of the functionality you are talking about is out of the box on a high end CMS or a PHP/.net development platform. A lot is going to depend on what you want to do with it and where you are coming from. Most websites are database driven, the loyalty thing is a custom module working with user data and the SMS part can be implemented in a few ways (though SMS signup seems like a bad idea).

If you are a start-up and the website is your core business you're probably making a bad investment (though I stand to be corrected).

My guess is you are a SME who wants a customer portal as a sort of branding exercise. Something to grow brand loyalty, make your company interactive, give your biz identity and all those fairy tales.

What you probably need though is a project/ brand manager who can talk technology and handle this project so you don't waste R 50 000+.

But I stand to be corrected.

Pynet, you may want to actually spend some real time researching and deciding so that you can describe in detail what it is that you actually want to be produced exactly.
I see too many good project ideas die because the client does not know what the project actually has to physically do.

+1

The request in the OP really is very vague. It's like someone scoured the web for all the cool functionality from all the best websites and decided they wanted one with it ALL.

Hi

Thanks for all the responses.

The website is an extention of our current business and will be mainly for marketing purposes. We would like to communicate promotions to our clients either via sms, facebook and twitter and would like to do this from a single place.

So customers should have the ability to register to a database either via sms or webpage, we should have the ability to load a promotion hit 'send' and the message will go out to the clients as an sms aswell on our FB page and as a tweet.
Clients will need to revert on the sms to 'redeem' promotion i.e voucher/coupon etc, once they revert a coupon will be sent which they can redeem at an outlet.

The website/database should be-able to segment customers according to the promotion we are running, gender, age etc and also track and provide detailed reports, no. of sms delivered, read, responded etc
