Web Intact (Or intactless service)

As far as speed goes, it's a shared 128, 256 or 512 bandwidth, with a minimum of 128.

What I would like to know is where you get your backhaul data feed from. How can you guarantee 128Kb/s per subscriber for +-R550/m when the cheapest leased line is in the region of R2000 – R3000 for a 64Kb/s line?

Where do you get your bandwidth from?

Am I missing something?

Web Intact, if I understood your PM to me correctly, you only cater for mail and browsing:
"By default, only the standard web and mail ports are accessable, but we may be able to accomodate you."

Any changes to this policy in the pipleline?

Subscriptions

* R 350 Home Connection - 4Gb cap, 1 PC, email address, starting at 128kb connection burstable to 2Mb.*
* R 550 Business Connection - no cap, 5 PC's, unlimited email addresses, starting at 128kb connection, burstable to 2Mb.*

Yes - there are changes in the pipeline which I can't discuss here and now.

Unfortunately the WoW game servers won't be accessable at this stage, but soon will be...

Thanks, that's good to know. It doesn't look like ADSL or iBurst will be in my area anytime soon so if you guys make this an unshaped product I'll definitely give it serious consideration.

You must be lost, this is the wifi forum..

Karnaugh I think that before RPM edited the sections, this did indeed fall under the iBurst section.. .could be wrong tho :P

Web Intact
so you are saying i won't be able to run kazaa, bittorrent and other programs like these cause the ports are blocked on the network please give some more info

mojo pretty much... besides the fact you shouldn't be downloading anything illegal :P (i.e. pirated movies, mp3s etc.) (ignore me... I have a thing against piracy *roll eyes*)

Dovi ...

And what of the many legitimate users of p2p ? ... My monthly releases of various linux distros for example ...

Rather don't make assumptions of users and their usage patterns ... Sentech & WBS did and look what it got them.

Web Intact

I was at one of your clients yesterday and had a look at how the product works. As far as I can see it works as follows:

- an extra network card is installed in one of the PCs on the network together with your software
- This PC then acts as the gateway for other PCs on the network running your software for them to connect to the internet.

I want to do the following:
- Install the extra network card in their Small Business Server 2000 Box.
- Use ISA Server on the server to share the internet connection for all the client PCs.
- Set up the Exchange POP3 Connector to download all the users's e-mail from their hosted mailboxes to their local exchange mailboxes.
- Set up Exchange Server to send all outbound mail via the Web Intact link.

This is the exact setup I use at a number of clients with either ADSL or Diginet. In the case of the Diginet line that has a routable IP address, you have the option of pointing your MX record directly to your Exchange Server.

My question is: Can this be done using Web Intact?

Hi Beb - the 2x network card configuration you describe is a standard hardware firewall configuration. There is no proprietry software that we use between the cards other than free or other firewall software as a 'belt & braces' approach.

Regarding your questions -

This can be done.

Put the second network card on the server, with the IP alllocated by us.

Use ISA server to forward all packets to this allocated ip from the workstations.

Exchange set-up is like normal: use our smtp server’s address or ip.

We will do the rest of the routing on our server, to direct packets to your server.

Hope that helps...

Agreed there - our current port restriction policy is not a 'policing' one - although i like Dovi's attitude, as I feel the same way being a musician in my spare time (what little there is - apologies to my wife!).

It's merely a 'best for all' at this stage until we can impliment bucketloads of bandwidth to cater for P2P type users...

How presumptuous to assume people would want to download your music! ;)

Ouch! yeah, I suppose so... but my mom says it's good!

It's more a sympathy for fellows thing... but watch the charts!

which isp support p2p with great speeds and high caps
plz help!
