Web page design

I wouldn't use flash, but that's just a preference... unless you can optimise it very well, and you're good at it.

Please don't use flash.
Dreamweaver was the choice a while back, don't know if that's changed.
Check your webhost, some have builtin software to get your site up quickly.

Well I use Paint Shop Pro, Front Page, maybe a Bit of 3D Studio MAX or even ZBrush

But i guess if you wanna go with the flow, dreamweaver and photoshop?

it all depends on:
-How good do you wanna make the website
-How good you are with learning new Software
-Will you be doing this for a living
-Do you have the software

Eg:
Frontpage is easy, Dreamweaver is the way to go if you want to do this as a career.
Photoshop is expensive, but blender is free.
etc, etc

tell me more on what you want to achieve and i'll try to help.

Thanks Keeper, I want to get my own site up for a product line we will be doing.
I have Photoshop CS3.
Want it to be very good :D
I learn stuff and programs fairly quick.
Thanks

Hi marine1,

There is always the route of using a template and learning from it / customising it to your needs. I think that's the easiest way to learn, as it gets you right in there and still have a professional design.

Good luck, let us know how it goes or if you run into any problems!

well then, i'd suggest this:

-use CS3 to make an interface.

-Cut up all the parts into smaller images, where needed.
Like your top bar, crop it, and crop all the buttons as seperate images.
Crop images that will "tile", eg if there is a metal strip running across your screen, that looks the same all the way through, cut it up into a 1pixel width by whatever (eg 30) pixels high - this will speed up your page loading times.

-save all images as jpeg, and compress how much you feel is needed - enough to make it fast loading, but not too much that it looks bad.

-build your site in frontpage using frames or tables - it's quite easy. (Make the tables border size 0.

i'll see if I can make a quick illustration....

Hi marine1,

There are quite a large number of websites that provide templates that one can use - if you like I can dig up some links for you. All you would need to do is download the template and then use an editor (can even be Notepad) to make any changes.

Thank you for your interest in our services. I would love to inform you but it says that your account has disabled from receiving PMs - would it be possible for me to please PM me your e - mail address and we can discuss your needs further from there?

Regards,

Graphic Design, yes, but not webdesign....

getting your page to look good in photoshop is your first step, so good luck with that.

like someone else suggested, you can always create the website from a template or something, but Raven would know more about that.

Not sure what you have seen Raven, cause I don't put much of my work onto mybb - but thanx for the compliment anyway heheh
