WAGE isn't a company - it's just the name for their gaming service/servers. Internet Solutions (which most Openweb services use) has IS Gaming, Mweb has GameZone, Telkom has SGS
Those are the larger players, but most ISP's run their own gaming servers too.
Throttling/Shaping get's complicated because there are so many ways you can do it, but I'll try a simple explanation;
'Faster' is relative to your needs, as each ISP has it's own 'rules' for how it shapes different types of internet traffic. For instance they allow web browsing the full use of your lines speed, taking priority over gaming, which takes priority of torrents which are limited to only 25% of your line speed, for example. They do this so you can't download terabytes a month for only the R500 you're paying.
One of my biggest peeves is most ISPs are not open about their shaping rules, and they can also change them whenever they want. So suddenly your service degrades over night and there's nothing you can do. Which is why if you follow the forums you'll find most users are constantly jumping ship to other ISPs which have better shaping rules. Eventually if those rules tighten or there's someone better they'll move on again. This is why it's important to never sign a contract when it comes to ISPs, you need to stay flexible.
Openweb's Gold Uncapped is more expensive because it has less restrictions, torrents and other methods of downloading have more lenient shaping rules etc.
WebAfrica takes it a step further though and throttles you too. They have very lenient shaping rules, but they do have a rolling usage window which allows you do download or do whatever you want, but once you've reached the threshold (something like you can only use 3GB an hour) then your entire speed gets slowed down for everything - until the window moves back down to less than 3gb/h. It's a nice idea in theory because there's lenient shaping, but you constantly have to keep an eye on the window. It's not a package suited for downloading 200GB a month unless you don't mind being throttled or watch your usage like a hawk.
Gaming wise you probably won't notice a major difference between the larger ISPs, unless you specifically wanted to connect to a WAGE server, and even then by being with WebAfrica you might get 1-10ms less latency which it's hardly noticeable in most cases. (you can still connect to other ISPs gaming servers from any other ISP)
I think I will go for openweb since i am constantly downloading music and youtube and allot of gaming
