So, like everyone else, they doubled up the linespeeds back in Covid days, and I've been on a 50/50 for like a year and a half, and paying the 939-00 per month as well. Friday, I do a line speedtest, and notice I'm back down to 30/30! Check the Website, and this is on the Website.

Naturally, I question this, and request my line get's put back to 50/50. Ohh no, as an EXISTING, loyal customer, I need to pay 100 bucks more for 50/50! The above "deal" is only for NEW customers!

So, I'm now done. Need to decide which of the lesser evils I'm going to move to, as it's a frogfoot network only here.. But, seriously, screw Webafrica the thieving sods. Time to take my cash elsewhere!

I made the mistake of using them once when I still had ADSL. I don’t think there are any humans actually working there, just bots.

If you are looking for a new ISP, Cool Ideas get my vote just based on their rave reviews on here and elsewhere. I would probably sign up with them if I had a choice, but I am with Mweb through an employer offer.

So consider me an unbiased opinion as I have no horse in this race :)

So for R10 more you get the 500/50 line vs the 50/50. Those prices are a bit weird though. The 50/50 for R939 is significantly more than other ISPs on the same package.

Thanks, Im looking at cool ideas based on others comments.

I just don't understand this mindset, and the fact they have made themselves un-contactable except via a whatsapp chat! They must SURELY be losing customers hand-over-fist with this attitude.

And don't get me wrong, I'm comfortable spending this kind of coin for a 50/50 service, and, I need the UP speed as I also do live streaming and commentary services, so need to have the up speed.. but, yeah, Ill issue instructions end of the month.

Another vote for Cool Ideas ;)

Or you could do what my dad does with his tracking company every year when he get's his subscription increase notification. He calls them, tells them he is cancelling, then calls back in fifteen minutes and signs up as a new customer.

I thought about trying that, but they'd probably have some other story and block me.. So, not going to try it.

A few years back, and with the fuzzy-faired dude, they seemed to be on point with their adverts and stuff, but now they really are just junk. sad.

End of June I can cancel my WebAfrica without the installation fee penalty, really looking forward this!!!

3 days without Internet and counting this week...

Yep. Done it.. Saturday I had 5 drops in one day! Downdetector for Webafrica was like off the chart! Mind made up. Did the App form with Coolideas and gave WE my 30 days cancellation instruction. All due 1 July. Cannot find the Do0s the router came in, so they also going to charge me a thousand bucks for that! good riddance..

Just return the router to their office without the box.

I'm thinking about it., but they state, original packaging , etc.. so, I'm expecting them to give me **** anyway and charge me, so, am in two minds about returning it.. might as well keep one as a backup as I've ordered a new one from Cool ideas.

Webafrica was AMAZING when they started. for quite a few years. then they started automating things and quality of service went down as they got bigger. So I switched to Afrihost. Afrihost was on a same path, but must say the whatsapp line is a saving grace.

Cool Ideas = Really good peering and caching of Netflix - never a bad moment. Great for Gamers. They basically are in existence to give gamers and streamers a lower latency route.

If you Cape Town and want to get personal attention Atomic Access. Small ISP starting to scale. Real peeps will reply to your queries.

FYI Frogfoot is dropping nationally for the past week. I could not stream the weekend had to switch to LTE.
FFS.

Frogfoot Loss in Cape Town is crazy at the moment. Many drops a day. Apparently they have a national switching issue.

Thank God Openserve just went live last week in my area. If @cavedog 's good feedback on openserve is anything to go by I am going to try them.

After being with them for 4 years, I really can't find the do0s... but will still ship it back

Indeed these guys should be a case study of how not to grow a business!

6 days without internet and counting (they closed my ticket this morning )

There is no ways their router is worth anything near R1000. It is probably a R500 router at best. There have been people on the forum saying they dropped off their router without box and WA accepted it.

Here's the cherry on the top. This lady called me this morning. told her to send it on email.

Her title is "Retentions Specialist"!!!
So they're all sorry and really don't want me to leave, and to make me stay, she found the lowest price on the market, (797) for 50/50 from Afrihost, which they'll offer, AND, a month for free, for all the trouble and unhappiness they caused.....

I've decided I'll keep the router as a backup! lol.

Its a principle thing now.. But how bad is that?! They're the same as Outsurance and Dial direct.. as SOON as you call their bluff, they collapse in a heap.

Now, why did it have to go THAT far for you to realize you're causing your own ****. I REALLY hope others follow and this crowd eventually get taken over\bought out.

@PBCool , thought you'd appreciate this

Which LTE ISP do you recommend for gaming? I am based in Cape Town and I can only get LTE.
