Since WebAfrica switched to Internet Solutions they dropped our allowed usage for uncapped internet. I'm on a 2mb line so I should be allowed 40gb within the 7 day usage window. But now its only 30gb a week. I can only guess what the other speeds have been cut down too since all information on the rolling windows have been removed from the WebAfrica website and knowledgebase.

As a WebAfrica user I demand that you inform us when you cut down our allowed usage down as you sugar coat internet solutions.

This should definitely not be the case and you should have been able to use more than previously but I am in the process of investigating your usage on your account.

I will provide feedback shortly.

Vote with your wallet, stop moaning, stop threatening. Just leave if you don't like it.

So how exactly was your usage cut more than usual?

I am pretty certain I did a whole lost more than that on the new IS based web africa accounts. In fact I believe I did more than 50gb in 7 days on a weekly basis easily on a 2mbps home uncapped account.

Crazy, that basically means I pull more data than you on my 1mb account. You should log a complaint.

Hi Sege5641,

Since you have posted this on our forums as I have replied to this post on our forums via link.

I've also noticed a sharp decrease, in fact I've used around half of what I used to do before the swap and notice extreme shaping. Even now, I can't even load gmail. And from what I've seen there is no more free zone time during the evenings so I get even less downloading done :/

There is if you read web africa's reply.

Hi Sege5641,

We have investigated your account usage as well as current star rating and can confirm it is correct. The reason why your account is currently being throttled is because you are on a Home 2mbs Uncapped account with almost all of your usage taking place during business hours. These accounts are tailor made for Home use i.e: usage during evening from 6pm and weekends, so if your downloads are scheduled for the evening you won't drop stars as fast and won't get throttled. We have also noticed that you are not really making full use of download plus (12am-6am) which will help you in dropping your star rating and will keep you out of the throttling zone. With Home based accounts only essential protocols are prioritised during the day like Browsing, VOIP, etc so by staying out of the red zone you will experience full speeds for those protocols during the day.

Most of our Home based account customers have been able to use much more than previously on our old network but most of their usage is during the evening. We have customers that are also on a 2mbs Home Uncapped service with more than 100gb of usage for this month so far only on a 2 star rating. So if you use the account as its intended (Home, off-peak usage) it will yield the desired results. However, if you require a service during Business hours we would suggest you opt for the appropriate Business packages which will be more suitable.

Wow

I downloaded 92 GB on a 1mbps Home Uncapped account last month and only went down to 4 stars...most downloads were at night.
