Webafrica Down?

Let's see how seriously they take this business.

If they fix it overnight, it means they are pros, and if not, it of course means the opposite.

Overseas they would kick up a storm to get the techs out to the site to fix things a.s.a.p. - even in the middle of the night.

Epic Web Africa outage indeed.

Had lots of connectivity issues today, might all be related to Telkom insane next generation network which is gonna take us to the edge of the universe ?

Heard it had to do with an issue in the Cape Town data centre...

Would be nice if they post something here to let us know... seen as we can't really get updates from their site or email:/

Can't trust us Capetonians hey:P

Okay so I finally got through to the call centre, the conversation on WA's side went something like this:

Yes, the network is down.
No, we have no idea why.
No, we have no ETA for resolution.

Best advice: Try again in 30 minutes.

I'm sure they'll do the same here too. At the very least the call centre people know & they should certainly "kick up a storm" if the entire networks goes down.

I'm recommending my clients move their hosting. Last time all the fanbois was in uproar about how awesome they were and that they're in the 99.99% uptime range. Monitoring the situation I can say that hasn't been the case since January... I'm done with constructive criticism and wasting my effort on a company that think they're too big too fail...been at it since 2008...hasn't improved at all IMO

My personal experience with WebAfrica has been only really with ADSL, but there their offering has been good, but their client service shocking. I've had mates who've had simlarly shocking support from WebAfrica with hosting. I'm still in the "I hate their service but love their product" stage, too many more problems and I'll hate both and leave. It's unfortunate, but it's where I'm at with them. (Been about 1-2 years for me)

Hey AcidRaZor,

No need to explain yourself. You SHOULD vote with your money.

I love WebAfrica (not today though), but they have been shaky the last few months. But that doesn't make them exempt.

Crazy to host in Africa, unreliable and ridiculously expensive... www.host4africa.com / www.gridhost.co.za - both host @ www.theplanet.com

ps. still on the line now caller # 8

after 1hour and 3 minutes caller # 5

after an hour and 15 minutes, I give up...

Still can't find an ISP with better service...

(and you can imagine how tough it is for me to say that, connecting through my phone paying R2/MB right now...)

Back up over here... 2 hour downtime and still no word from WA though.
