Hi

I'd like to transfer my line to WA but only at the end of this month. How long does the process generally take? I have a DoBroadband package on my line that I need to use before transferring the line (pre-billed for Jan).

Should I wait until the 30th/31st to start the process? Telkom need to be notified before the end of the month...

When you say your line you mean your ADSL line and your access (service provider ) ??
You can go to Telkom and fix date a disconnection (make sure they fix date it or they will disconnect you straight away)

If I recall correctly I applied well after the 20th and by the start of the new month was already being billed by WA and not Telkom for ADSL portion. I don't recall any downtime either and you can still use the other ISP account on the router to finish it up - it doesn't get blocked or anything. It was a long time ago though I hope this is the case still.

Word of advice trying to phone any call center at the end of the month is murder VODACOM Telkom all of them because every one wants to phone them then

This may be a silly Q, but anyway...
If you do move your line rental to WA can you still use other ISP's or are you restricted to using only WA then?

If its the latter (as I assume), how big a mission is it to move it to someone else again if you're not happy with the WA service?

Thanks, oh ya, my first post for 2012 so....
Happy Happy to all and as they say in Afrikaans.

Normally telkom require a minimum of three weeks notice for most things
Still not sure if you are transferring your ADSL line to WA or what ?? ( the ADSL line is always going to belong to Telkom whether an ISP leases it or you have it in your name )
@Krypt0n1te the ISP will not have access to the DSLAM so i am sure you can use any access on the ADSL line whether it is transferred to WA or not ( but i am sure they will try to limit that by locking the ADSL modem )

Transfer your line whenever, it is pro-rata billed. And having a wholesale sold line does not restrict what ISP I can connect with...I can connect with any ISP...

Morning Nocturnity,

Seems like a lot of the questions have been answered already, thanks guys!! :)
Just to clear a few things up, we definitely don't limit which accounts are used - the line is simply transferred to us so we can log line faults etc on your behalf as well as offer a better pricing on the line.

You can use our accounts as well as any others you might have.

The line transfer process is simple from your end, we'll deal with Telkom. http://kb.webafrica.co.za/article/A...s/Line-Transfer-from-Telkom-to-Webafrica.html

Thanks guys but it's a wee bit more complex than that.

1. I'd like to sign up for a WA uncapped 4MB account and port my (DSL) line rental to WA.
2. I currently have a Do3 (16GB) and two AllAccess 8GB accounts with Telkom.

I spoke to a lady at the Telkom call centre yesterday and she said I need to cancel the two 8GB accounts before month-end and WA need to handle the line transfer (which would automatically cancel the Do3 package).

The problem is, Telkom bills for the month in advance, so I've already paid for all the bandwidth and this month's line rental. If I move now, I'll be paying double and lose the 16+30(local) Gb's.

Does that make more sense?

Edit: Wait, perhaps I can transfer the line so long and sign up for the uncapped at the beginning of next month. That could work!

Edit 2: Crap! The 10Mb line price is higher if you take it without adding the uncapped data option...
