I have had it 3 months now. Getting between 30 and 45mbps download. And 5 to 11 mbps upload speeds any time of day or night. Never been down since i have it and i work from home using it 24/7. Centurion

For me the street i am on is not shaded in blue but my neighboring roads are shaded blue(covered).
The consultant i spoke to told me I should be a able to get it, but it is my risk still.
Also added that as a staff member had the same scenario but they are able to get signal and it works like a charm.

When you consider the pricing, and latency how would you compare this to a wireless service like Wirulink or Fibrestream ?
Which LTE package did you take ? the 120 GB ?

Depending on your data usage, if it is low (less than 120GB), I would always choose the RAIN LTE over any WISP, unless there is no coverage. I am also not in a coverage area, but it is working at my home, without external antenna.

Wireless, like wirulink, seems to be off for short periods of time all the time so I'm no fan of them. I prefer consistancy.

I'm outside their coverage also, my actual address just happens to fall under their coverage map, but if you look where the coverage stop i'm outside it, so I still got it from them.

Latency is fantastic, I had CellC LTE-A before and its much more responsive and consistant. I'd say other than Fiber nothing comes close. The consistancy of the connection for me is a winner, and that its just a small router, no cables, so If i move I can just take it with me, and no contract or anything.

I started with 55 + 55gb, moving to 120+120 from 1 December though. used my 110gb of this month up within the first week.

pings to google runs at 19-20ms all day long ...

What about all the data being chomped up so quickly?
I have about 2-3 streets away from me which do show they are covered but not mine, sadly, but i am feeling it should work also .

So you reckon getting this LTE thing is better than getting WISP ?
I dont play games, but i would not getting back in to Call Of Duty again for the occasional game.
I am only concerned about Latency and hoping i dont get 100 kb/s on a file download.
I am happy with 400kb/s at least.
Ping / Latency for me i hope it decent too, at least 15ms.

I have tried numerous WISPs in my live and none of them come close to RAIN LTE, unless you like to download 500GB/month.
Data usage will depend on you and cannot be blamed on the ISP. :p

You can run through the SpeedTest thread and see what others are getting. ;)

data only get chomped up by things you use it for? remember the moment you have a fast reliable connection you will watch youtube in HD, the moment you notice youtube never even buffers, you will watch more and more... netflix, all those things. suddently 120gb seems to just disappear. suddenly you update your phone and windows more often, all that... :)

If you can get rain, you wont be sorry. 400kb/s downloads... If i go on a site like thinkbroadband.com/download and download the 1gb file for a 'while' it runs at around 5mb/s...

If you going to stream because of this being fast you would need to consider dropping the quality to 360p on youtube or SD quality if you on some streaming site

I have a kid that watches youtube so when she wants to watch youtube I manually need to change the quality to 360p sometimes even 240p as she don't care about quality

you only 'have' to change it to save data, not because the connection cant handle it smoothly. youtube and netflix in 1080 hd never buffers on my side. But yes a kid watching movies all day can make even the 440gb look like not enough I suppose :)

Sorry I forgot to add the saving data part
I stream on the highest as I watch sport etc

Yeh , i pay for 300 GIGS a month capped and that is way more than enough for me.
I used to do 200 but one month i went to 200 and maxed out.
It was daughter youtubing and dstv catch up and stuff, yes.
So as long as i 360 or 480 most of the youtube stuff for daughter and watch the dstv stuff occasionally especially when we dont lose the rugby to ireland and japan, and england football, then i am fine.
I will be trying out the 120 GB option for now.
Hope i get signal and have good stability with it where i am.
@Telkom are far too slow with their service recovery process.
Thieves steal the cables/lines/copper which sucks but then Telkom cant give you ETAs m, they are very difficult to get hold of when you need support - time to wait, and the consultants seem to vary in their knowledge or service they provide.
My port profile always changes from 10 meg to 9 meg or 8 meg, i cant keep calling them to correct it to 10 all the time.

I have the same problem, but found a quicker way to get support. I will log in at www.telkom.co.za and log a call there, just for the reference number. Then I DM @TelkomZA on twitter and it's the best service I have received so far. I have to do it again, as I see I am syncing again @ 9mbps.
