alright i wanna get this game called x3 terran conflict, iv looked and phoned around and it doesn't look like its gonna be in South africa anytime in the immediate future,

however the game is available to buy on steam so i plan to buy the game on steam (R450) and then download all the files from them.

but...

the game says u need 10 gb of space available which i do have but that would cost me R63 x 10 = R630 to download the game.

i know its wrong but i wanna just download the game in one day and im hoping that if i don't get d/c i can have the whole game on only 1 gb of prepaid. (R63)

and i don't wanna wait cause i really wanna play this game and once wotlk comes out all my time will be taken up by that.

any suggestions

You can't do that. They will cap you as soon as you reach your 1gig limit.

you need to find out how many gigs it is going to take to download the game from steam. 10 gigs on your hard drive is not the same as the compressed files that you download. the installer uncompresses them when you install the game.

I see some people are saying it will take 7 or 7.5 GB to download.

ya i guessed around 7 gb or so but u also need to remeber the upload which might be around 500mb - gb

i have a 4mb line and steam servers are generally pretty quick so i might have it by 2mo morning but i need to know the cheapest way of downloading it

No. You'll get at best 1.5gb out of a 1gb. And if you did manage to run 7gb through a 1gig account, then they'd probably charge you for it. (They can lawfully do that and rightly so)

I agree... this is gonna be way too expensive to download... and take ages as well.

ok so if i order it off amazon or ebay do u guys know more or less il end up spending? il go check it out now tho thanx

Add +/- 15%-20% to the value for import tax and shipping. If you are lucky they might just forget to charge you for import tax, but rather not count on that. And yes, it will be your cheapest option.

Some internet cafes will allow you to download at a very reasonable rate. Locally (Somerset West) I can get it done @R50 a gig - or I can negotiate a better deal if its a lot more.

IS accounts allow you to overuse and don't charge extra. ;)

Get a local only 10gb IS account, you'd probably be able to download the full game using only that, or for less of a risk a 1gb/10gb IS account.

Ethical or not, Webafrica won't pay for the overusage as IS sell accounts on a per account basis and not per mb :)

i have a 30 gb local is account i sometimes use and it has enough bandwidth left

apparently there is a is steam server to get content off locally but im not sure how to

when i left my local only on without any international it said steam servers where too busy

Mmm doesnt IS have a local content server? Think you can use your local account to download it from that server... What you do is connect with Route Sentry and just disconnect your international account and it should continue downloading from the local account...

I THINK :) But dont take my word for it read something like that a while ago :D

ya but how do u connect to it cz i left it on all night and it didn't connect.

I think the problem is the local server only hosts stuff for games that get played often like tf2 css etc but not for much else :(

Why you wanna rip WebAfrica off, what they did

One solution is to appeal to someone with an uncapped account to get it for you and then negotiate the price/shipping etc.

end of the day i just bought 7 gb of int bandwidth, i had a really good month this month so it only works out to a fraction of my income but i didnt want to waste it cz of the whole economic crysis.

oh well at least il enjoy myself while the boat sinks.
