I'm not a webAfrica customer, but someone went and registered my email with WebAfrica. So that a legitimate e-mail from WebAfrica were sent to me by them.

However prior to legitimate e-mail from WebAfrica, I received another e-mail where the real links in the e-mail were https://via.intercom-mail-200.com/e?.... masked as "webafrica.co.za"

with reply-to: Webafrica from Webafrica Networks <[email protected]>

Clearly my personal data has been breached somehow. I don't know who is calling me legitimately to confirm "security questions" over the phone any more.

Now I'm paranoid, because obviously my data is out there for everyone who has access to it to sign up for debit orders.

Anybody else has a similar story?

Whatever you do do not confirm any of your details with anyone that phones you.

If you call your bank or another service provider and they then request details to confirm who you are that is ok 'cause you probably looked the number up on the internet or you had it stored on your phone or elsewhere.

And with emails like the one you got, rather search the number on the net, and don't use the details in the email.

Thing is, I have been signing up with Telkom LTE deal prior, expecting calls for security for confirmation etc. They at least do send an SMS to say from which number they will be calling. But now this...

Jeez, come on now, do your research, Intercom.io is a customer chat thing.

IT probably was from Afrihost
