WebAfrica Rant

common decency?

BWAHAHAHAHA

thank you I needed that,

They threaten me with legal action as step 1.
In the threat they tell me they have made attempts to talk to me about this.

Their ineptitude should not be made my problem.
Dude, that is standard business practice. Maybe they had a wrong number or some such. Don't you think they would rather keep clients than chase them away? I am sure you imagine some decrepit evil guy waiting at a monitor to pounce? Common decency is not ranting like a Tourette sufferer whenever you think the world has wronged you. Grow up.

I don't see how any company would possibly want to take Legal Action for R70.

I work for a lawyers firm working in debt collection and AFAIK if the debt is less than R800, it gets thrown out, but don't quote me on it, might be wrong.

I've had a few hang ups from WA billing, smaller issues really, but which also caused me to open threads and send emails. It's been sorted, but I've still got a hang up here and there with support issues, especially at work.

Hope WA puts the customer first again like they used to, that would be cool.

It is often an automatic process, especially with larger companies. It is simply not practical for one guy to go over 1000 accounts one by one and to type out appropriate letters for each by hand. I have heard of people getting handed over for a few cents! It is ridiculous, but like I said, it happens. It does not mean you should go off like a kid in a supermarket. Just grow up and deal with it!

Pretty reasonable response if you ask me. It really pisses me off when people don't have any manners or common decency.

Some people lose both manners and common decency when threatened with legal action for 70 rand.

I am with webafrica and i can tell you if they ever threatened me with legal action i would go ape shyte and common decency and manners would go right out the windows.

Where is their common decency and manners when threatening legal action against someone for 70 bucks?

Feel the same way ;)

So if you owe WebAfrica R70 and you don't pay, they should just sit back and do nothing? Where would you draw the line?

Money is money, and if it's for eg. 1000 people that owe R70 and haven't paid, it's R70 000 they would just have to lose.

You don't buy something, don't pay and then when get threatened with legal action get all upset about it, YOU DIDN'T PAY. YOU owe them money. (This is of course not aimed at the people that got sent the notices wrongly.)

Also, as far as I understand, they send out suspension notices beforehand. It seems these final messages warning about legal action just included a few people that weren't supposed to get it. They've mentioned several times that they're aware of the problem and are actively working to correct it.

I have to say this thread is enough to put me off of WebAfrica as an alternative to Axxess right now. Billing happens to be the one thing Axxess have yet screw up :D

I got one of them emails too. I never even have the account. So I can't understand how they want to perform legal action against me if they haven't given me anything. What a bunch of idiots!

Well, look.

WAMariet has at least explained what and why the error occurred, instead of ignoring the problem. I do appreciate that.

Thank you.

Web Africas web site is EXTREMELY slow. Sometimes wont even load, other times it takes ages to load. I know sites made completely out of flash hosted on adsl lines that are faster than this. This infuriates me when i try buy prepaid data. FIX YOUR SLOW SITE WEBAFRICA, IT SUCKS!!!

As the guy says, he has spent plenty of money on WA. So it's not like he is cheating them off their money. And given he cancelled the account (without using it would seem), I think he has every right to go off.

I always send support tickets to Webafrica (I never phone as it is expensive) explaining the situation and what I think needs to be done. It takes only a couple of minutes to put your thoughts down in a ticket. Don't use foul language, be pleasant and you'll be surprised at the result. I've had my share of problems with Webafrica hosting and adsl but in the end their support is great.

It can be slow at times, but they always sort me out. Thanks WA, will continue to use you. I'm also using axxess for other adsl accounts. I have used their phone support which is quick, but again I prefer to use tickets with them.

I hate whiners!

Hi There Byte,

Could you possibly send me your client code so I can investigate.

We are aware that billing is currently one of the area's that needs improvement at Web Africa, and we are pushing this aspect hard to improve upon it.

waroop, thanks for the offer of investigating.

The issues I've had have been over the past few months. I have since managed to get them sorted out.

It's just made me lose faith in Web Africa and has made me decide to limit my involvement with Web Africa to a 1GB prepaid account just for emergencies.
