Webafrica slow

No official reported issues this side guys, but there is also a thread on our forums.
Network maintenance was run last night, and reports are coming up this morning. Hhhhmm, think there's a trend here.

Lemme run down to the Networking and DSL guys to see whats happening. Will post up some feedback as soon as I have any relevant info :)
To get some data, please run a tracert to the following sites:

Post up the results here for the guys that are having issues so we can spot a possible issue somewhere.

Strange, its only slow on personal my titan account, the works titan account is fine.?!

Unusably slow here. Traceroute to WA and CNN bombs out, mybb gets through after 13 hops.

gmail times out but I can sort of use google. I did put a support ticket in, but can't read mail to see what pearls of wisdom come forth (and I can't get into the support app anymore to check there).

I phone them and the lady said they are having international connection problems and that someone is working on it. I still stayed on the line, cause the website says all is fine: http://www.webafrica.co.za/status/

The guy that answered said that the website will be updated now. :erm:
 
Morning guys

The issue seems to be isolated to international browsing. We've also had a couple of reports re Google services. It could also be related to maintenance performed last night, although nothing is 100% confirmed at this stage.

Our Network guys are looking into it now- will have more details as soon as possible :)

It's more than international. It took forever to logon here. News24 the same. email is virtually at a standstill.

Not slow here, completely dead.
cannot ping, seems the nameservers cannot be reached.

Posted using an IS based account.
 
Any update on this? What if you use different DNS servers, or is the problem not DNS related?

My RedAfrica account seems fine, but have people with Prepaid accounts having similar issues. They are on Gmail, so can't mail support.
 
We'll have the status page updated shortly.
Our networking guys are still looking for a resolution on the network. At this stage, there are unconfirmed reports of intermittent connectivity and slow browsing or a possible issue with our upstream provider.

As soon as information becomes available to me I'll pass it on.

Our engineers are requesting the following information to be sent into [email protected] to help us isolate the problems.

  • Top 3 affected websites
  • Traceroutes for those affected web sites
  • Whether or not DNS servers are being specified or not
  • Speed test results to London as well as to Web Africa's Newlands/Cape Town Speedtest server
 
Agree, it's not only international. Can't even load WA's status page anymore...

True, experiencing the same problems. (Thinking the so-called maintenance done last night caused all this...)

The maintenance that was run last night has already been looked into :) Was one of the first options that we looked at that could have been causing the issues.
