Almost 2 months now browsing at an average 2GB a day or less, some days 500MB, I am still on 3 star! All my downloads happen between 12am and 6am which is the period I was advised does not affect my ratings.

Must I use 20MB a day to get to 5 star?!?:mad::mad:

What problem do you have with 3 stars?

If the system is supposed to update due to usage, then why is it not doing so? Otherwise, why monitor people's usage and downgrade their speeds in the first place?

If you try and understand how the star system works, your head will explode :D

You only really need to worry if you go below 3, so whatever you're doing, it's not causing it to get any worse or better, so I wouldn't worry.

A 3 star rating doesn't really affect you that much and you should only feel the difference during the day. After 5 pm it should go back to normal.

Can you PM me your customer code or ADSL username so I can take a look into the usage stats.

It's funny, I just jumped from 3 star to 5 star overnight.....Somebody just pulled a fast one somewhere....

It tends to do that, maybe 7/10 (can't remember what the rolling window is) days ago you had a lull in your consumption, but like I said, if you try and understand it, your head will explode :D

This is exactly the reason why I'm moving to another ISP. One that treats its clients like adults. Desktop_2014_02_20_15_47_57_264.jpg

As you can see in the screencap - even after 7 days of zero activity i'm still on 4 stars (up from 3). Ridiculous. Unfair. In this day and age plain unacceptable.

For someone that wants to be treated like an adult you certainly moan, kick and scream like a little kid about it.

How about, I don't know, not bitching and just get another ISP then? It's not that difficult as an adult to make that decision and just move, is it?

It's also not a 7 day rolling window period, it's a 30 day rolling period. Which means no activity for 7 days and "still only at 4 stars" means you bashed that connection enough so that you are only 4 stars (which, FYI, isn't bad at all, even 3 stars)

Funny how you don't mention your usage for the last 30 days...

Now go tell mommy or daddy (whichever one pays for your account) that you'd like a new one and the people are being SO unfair towards you that if you don't get another ISP right away that you will sulk and cry and throw your toys until you get a new ISP because you're underage and can't do it for yourself

/edit BTW, why would you need to google the current time? Just look bottom right...

Does this star rating only effect uncapped accounts or capped as well ?

Nothing about his post struck me as immature, to be honest. The same cannot be said of yours. He was merely pointing out that even after 7 days of absolutely no activity, his star rating did not go up. That's pretty significant, if you ask me. There was no kicking and screaming involved. There was absolutely no justification for your personal attacks.

I guess fanboys will be fanboys.

Some ISPs like to turn the internet into something dirty; you have to look over your shoulder as you might get caught out.

Actually, he said it went up from 3 to 4.

Anyway, excession1's head must have exploded because he's tried to make sense of the star rating :D

Even so, envo's post was still completely uncalled for. If you stop using your account entirely for 7 days, going up just one star is worrying. excession1's post was certainly not hysterical or childish. envo's overly aggressive post, however, raises an eyebrow.

Hi Guys,

I believe that any customer has the right to complain or post a query here if they not happy. Clearly Excession1 is not happy with his account and its performance and we need to respect his right to post here even if you might feel its unnecessary. So I would implore that we respect each other in our replies as we are all here to assist.

@excession1, the star system does not use a 7 day window so you wont see a big drop down in 7 days unless your usage is very low. It's a continuous monitoring system and your usage before the 7 days meant that it was not low enough to be on a 5 star. With that being said thee is no real difference between a 5 and a 4 star so you should be getting full account performance except during business hours where P2P downloads are shaped.

What exactly are you experiencing when you on a 4 star?

A Star System? This is one of the funniest and sadest things I have heard with regards to SA internet service providers...

Ohhhh.... little Johnny didn't use so much internet today.... let's give him a staaaaar...!! Ohhhh... little Jonny used too much internet today, lets slow his account performance, otherwise he might get ahead of the other kids....

Really? Where have you heard this before? Sounds like Kindergarten, doesn't it? ;)

Oh mighty Gods of the Internet, please give SA'n ISP's the strength to supply their customers with an internet connection that simply works. Without any "if", "buts" and "dont's"...

Oh mighty Gods of the Internet, please give SA'n ISP's the courage to do away with "SHAPING", "THROTTLING", "BANDWIDTH CAPS" and "STAR RATINGS"....

Oh mighty Gods of the Internet, please make the access to the World Wide Web, functional and affordable for all!
